Book Description

In this combination story - and how-to-knit book, children ages nine and up will learn how to knit soft and exceptionally warm Swedish folk mittens - more interesting than a scarf for learning the basics. This book has helped adults learn to knit, too. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

About the Author

Robin Hansen is a folklorist and mitten expert who has written articles on knitting for such publications as Interweave Knits, Knitter's Magazine, and Vogue Knitting. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Useful, May 3 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunny's Mittens: Learn-To-Knit Lovikka Mittens (Spiral-bound)
This book taught my sister and I how to knit. My sister still wears the mittens she knit from it, almost ten years later. The mittens are surprisingly easy to make but still really cool. It's aimed at children but I have bought this book for (adult) friends who wanted to learn how to knit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kid's Instruction with great story, Jan 19 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunny's Mittens: Learn-To-Knit Lovikka Mittens (Spiral-bound)
This is a great idea for teaching kids to knit. It is a story of a young girl and her grandmother. In the story the grandmother teaches Sunny to knit mittens. The story integrates instructions into the storyline. It really is quite cleaver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Double-Point Needles for Anyone, Jan 2 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sunny's Mittens (Paperback)
As an adult, I used this book to learn how to knit with double-points. After making 3 pairs of these mittens, with the larger size needles, I was able to tackle a basic sock pattern using size 3 needles. Whenever anyone asks about learning to use double-points, I always recommend this book as a good starting point. I'm happy to find it in print again, so I don't have to loan my daughter my original copy - I'm sentimentally attached to it!
