I have to add my two cents here since most of these 1-star reviews are from people who hate rap music and MTV (why are you even reviewing this anyway if you know you're not gonna like it?). Missy's first album isn't her best (her second album is) but it does show her skills and a sign of things to come. First off, Missy is more of an entertainer, not a singer or a rapper (even though she's decent at both). So if you want someone who's more talented at these things, pick up a Lauryn Hill record. Also, there are a lot of catchy songs on here like "The Rain" and "Gettaway", due to catchy choruses and wonderful production by Timbaland; so wonderful that he bites his own beats. That's right, Tim used a lot of these beats before, like on "Don't Be Commin' (In My Face)", a song that sounds exactly like SWV's "Can We". This makes the quality of the album go down. Otherwise, this was a good party-starter of an album.

"Beep Beep who got the keys of my jeep..brummmm..It's My Window, I Can't stand the Rain"..." those where the classic words that introduce us to Missy, I will never forget her first video, I could tell she was something else, and her first album back in 1997 is a great RAP masterpiece. The fist single "The Rain" a slow track with great sounds incorporated to it, very very Missy, the second delivery "Sock It 2 Me" "Uh Ah sock it to me like a..." the video is hilarious, and the part of the song where they sing like children is simply delightful. "Beep me 911" although it was a lil' boring still managed to keep in my brain, "Hit Me Wit The" one of the best joints in the album, "...tell me where the party is!...", overall Missy's debut showcased a different style of portraiting Hip Hop music and RAP and a long awaited queen of RAP, little that she knew that her music would conquer the R&B scene a few years later.

When I first listened to Missy Elliott's debut, I thought it was just... bad. However, after the second listen, it became my favorite CD. Missy is just... different, shes origional. She has her own sound that changes with each album. On this album she showed her soft side and her crazy side. I like how this album has so many different sides to it but still maintains a hip hop party vibe. Every song on the album is good, especially songs like "Getaway" "Best Friend" "The Rain" and "Beep Me 911." Buy this album, you won't be dissapointed.

As I can see through her next couple of albums, Missy's grown with her creativity and such. Her style is absolutely flawless. I don't think that Missy's ever made anything that I just flat out didn't like. This album is very dope. I was very impressed with its lyrical content and substance.
Good work, Miss Elliott.

This album would've been excellent if it was shorter. Some of the tracks are pure filler. The standout tracks are: Sock It 2 Me, The Rain, Pass da Blunt, Hit'em Wit Da Hee, Friendly Skies and Best Friends. After all these years, "The Rain" and "Sock it to Me" still sound new and exciting. Also, "Best Friends" is one of the most beautiful songs Missy Elliott has ever written.

Missy Elliott's Supa Dupa Fly is very good. It has the catchy beats, lyrics and everything you would expect in a great album. It's her best so far and way better than under Construction.
