I love this game! I'm a 34-year old mom of three and I feel like this game was tailor-made for my family. My kids are 1, 4, and 7, so obviously the one-year old doesn't play, but it has been such a fun family bonding experience for the rest of us. The characters are so cute and my kids love the cat power. I do wish there were more characters to choose from in terms of game play (Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Blue Toad are the only options). It really is a delightful game, especially the levels with Plessie the dinosaur (pretty sure it's a dinosaur). My four year old son can play with no problems. Sometimes when we were at a hard part, he would have his character just stay in the bubble while the rest of us got through a challenging part in a level. My seven year old daughter is very pleased that she can play as Peach. Hardcore gamers would probably find the game a bit too easy, but it's perfect for young kids (I'd say 4 to 10 years old).

This is such an excellent game I don't know where to start. I don't want to give away any spoliers so Alall you need to know is it's an extremely fun and bright game, garaunteed to put you in a good mood. Everything from the gameplay, music, art style... It is a superb high definition Mario game. This is a must have game for any Mario fan (new or old). Tons of power ups and unique/innovative level design - you will not be disappointed.

This game is worth the purchase of a Wii U. It's inventive, beautiful and completely addictive. You'll be jonesing to collect every green star and hidden stamp. Not only that, but it has one of the best soundtracks ever. The cat suit, double cherry, and boomerang suit are really great additions to your arsenal. The controls are precise and intuitive - especially with a pro controller. Others have pointed out how it doesn't quite reach the superb heights of Super Mario World or Galaxy, but for me, it falls in among the best the franchise has ever offered. Pick this up!

You need to play this! Buy a Wii U just for this game, seriously. This is probably one of the best games I've played in a long time.

It's as easy as you want it to be. It's simple enough for younger players, but it can also be challenging. Gathering all the stars makes for a challenge and it adds replay value. The later levels are also a bit of a learning curve as they get increasingly more difficult.

The ability to select your character also adds to replay value as they all play differently. Mario is quite balanced and good for beginners, Luigi jumps higher, Toad moves faster and Peach can float (which comes in handy more than you think).

The game is vibrant and colourful. It's absolutely gorgeous and it's just a treat to look at. The folks over at Nintendo did not skimp on anything in this. Levels are well designed and far more creative than what can be found in Mario 3D Land on the 3DS. They took some risks in the level design, and they paid off incredibly well.

The music is fun and well done, as usual. It's fully orchestrated (a tradition that was started in Mario Galaxy). What I like about Nintendo's direction with the Mario music is that it's familiar yet fresh. It has a bit of a Disney-esk vibe to it.

The game offers support for up to four players for local multiplayer. This is where it gets fun. I was playing this with my roommates for the first time a few weeks ago, and we ended up playing until the early hours of the morning, laughing and yelling at each other.

Bottom line, play it at some point in your life. In my opinion, it's a must own and it's worth buy a Wii U for.

There's so much to be said about this game, and if you're no longer a Nintendo enthusiast since the 90's, this game alone is a very good reason to reconsider. It is bursting with nostalgia, taking parts from different areas of gameplay from the Original release of Mario Bros. on NES, having the same Character gameplays as Mario World 2, and even developing many of the same jumping patterns from N64's Mario World.

On top of all that, the gameplay itself is nostalgic of Super Mario World on SNES, where the difficulty of gameplay and level sequences are so eerily similar, even though it's in 3D and HD. Having added new costumes has proven a quintessential bonus, as well as many secrets which are akin to Super Mario World, where you might not find them.. and you have to be pretty good at it to develop your skills.

All around proving the Wii U purchase that it's not all about graphics, that gameplay is still one of the most important concepts in the gaming world.

Bought this to play with my SO in our free time. At first I felt like it was a bit gimmicky, introducing the various game concepts in the first bit of levels to lay the ground for the later worlds. But each level throughout the entire game is unique and well designed around its own elements; you typically don't see repeats of the levels concepts until much later in the game in challenge levels. A great game for both the skilled and the new, had both of us laughing and dying.

I had not played video games since the days of the atari and Nintendo 64 except occasionally on my parents Wii. Now that I'm an older woman (55) I was bored so broke down and bought a WII U last xmas and I'm completely hooked on Mario and friends! What an awesome game! Gaming has completely changed over the years - the graphics are so amazing and even tho it's extremely difficult and intense I don't mind going through the sequences over and over until I get through. The luigi run throughs were of particular help to me and even tho they give you the option to skip I've never done that preferring instead to simply use Luigi as a guide. I've found that all the NES games are similar with great graphics and excellent helps - recently bought Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and I'm just as addicted! Another gamer is born - now if I can just get more types of remotes so I can play the Wii Sports!
