Book Description

Jun 19 2012 The Morningstar Strain
The long-awaited finale of Z.A. Recht’s “action-packed zombie extravaganza” (Ryan C. Thomas) that began with the acclaimed novels Plague of the Dead and Thunder and Ashes. . . .

THE MORNINGSTAR STRAIN WAS THE END OF THE WORLD.

In the wake of the zombie apocalypse, two separate bands of survivors journey across a decimated America, each with the desperate goal of finding the cure for the virulent plague that threatens the existence of humankind—or what’s left of it. Now it’s up to these inheritors of the future to outlive their waking nightmare, any way they can.

BUT FOR THESE SURVIVORS, IT IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

One group includes a brilliant virologist; for the other, an immune soldier proves invaluable. Battling infected and marauding raiders at every turn, the teams soon uncover the devious plans of Sawyer, an agent of the Chairman of the Reunited States of America, who believes that Dr. Anna Demilio already has the cure, and he will stop at nothing to find her. Now, with the salvation of the world and their own souls on the line, how far will the survivors go to emerge victorious?

2.0 out of 5 stars not entirely a fitting memorial Nov 27 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was the much awaited sequel and final book of the Morningstar Strain trilogy. it's a book that almost never happened and honestly I have mixed feelings that it did. Z.A.Recht was a great up and coming writer who was gone before his time. This book is an attempt to complete his legacy. It is compiled from his completed work on the book and also ghost written.
Honestly, the problem isn't his writing. It's the other person. The writing has a tendency to be disjointed and you can tell where the original framework is as well as specific scenes that have an overall "feel" of Recht's work, his character interactions, his pacing and then there is "the other" Characters die who should have lived -not because they were strong but in fact because of their very weak humanity and there is an almost palpable rage in the writing when they do die.
I think for completeness sake it's a book that should be read but you will miss the author even more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Explainable Result Nov 13 2012
By Jeffrey Swystun TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Thanks to Mr. Recht for the first two novels in this series and condolences to his family for his loss. I was unaware that the author had passed away while penning this third instalment until I read the opinions of fellow reviewers. It explains a great deal as Thom Brannan took up the challenging duties of finishing the novel. As a result it just did not jibe with the rest of the series. The tonality of the characters was off and the plot repetitive as it meandered to a fairly standard conclusion for this genre. Kudos to Mr. Brannan for his efforts in trying to find Mr. Recht's voice and for working through such an unfortunate situation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Final installment. Aug 1 2012
Format:Paperback
This book concludes the Morningstar Saga, I won't spoil anything but I did feel that the ending was rushed. If you have read the first two books in the series this book is a must read.
