Don't judge a book by its cover, July 14 2006
By Mary Ann Anderson - Published on Amazon.com
I had this book for over a year and for some reason the picture on the front cover and the synopsis on the back cover never appealed to me enough to cause me to even bother to open it. A couple of days ago I decided I would read the first 10 or 15 pages and if I hated it I would just stop reading and put it in my stack of books to take to Goodwill. Well, before I had read 10 pages I was hooked and I read late into the night and finished it in two days.
I liked Lucy for her willingness to sacrifice to get her little brother back to their grandfather's home in England and out of the grinding poverty they faced in France when neither of them even had enough to eat. She was willing to do ANYTHING to get the money to get them to England.
I liked Robert Standen because he recognized Lucy's intelligence and he was willing to take her advice. I even liked the bumbling Freddy. He wasn't smart enough to be too terribly bad.
I look forward to finding other books by this author.

Suspicion
Judith McWilliams
Ms McWilliams deserves 6 stars for this book. It is great. As far as I'm concerned there is only one other author out there who deserves 6 stars and that is Ms Rowling. Suspicion is original. It is not the typical format romance book. It's about time someone published an author who is not following the stereotyped format novel. Yeah! It should become a movie. I had this book finished the day I started reading it. Everything was put aside for the day because I couldn't put this book down. It is definitely a must read.
