Beautiful, if Somewhat Pricey, Erotic Art, Aug 10 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweet Smell of Woman (Hardcover)
This is another in a series of Heavy Metal "compilation" books featuring the art of Paolo Serpieri, accompanied by translated text from the artist. While there are some new plates used, a significant number of drawings and paintings can be found in two other Heavy Metal titles, "Sketchbook", and "Drunna X, vol. 1". Pros: Large, deluxe hardbound format Fair number of color pages Beautiful, highly detailed erotic artwork by a master figure artist The text is kept to a minimum Cons: Many drawings are repeated in other books IMHO, the softcore sexual references in the text are unnecessary and may detract from enjoyment of the art Like most Heavy Metal books, the book is quite thin given its cost. Summary: Overall, for those fans of Serpieri who haven't already purchased "Sketchbook" and/or "Drunna X, vol. 1", this is a nice title to add to your collection.

"Woman, you can change my world" --Scorpions, April 3 2002

This review is from: Sweet Smell of Woman (Hardcover)
This book is fantastic, the art ohh Marvelous, Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri at his best. No one draws beautifull women like Serpieri, and his goddess DRUUNA looks absolutely gorgeous. The women are sexy, voluptuous, and sexual. I would recomend this book with all the other Druuna books, but if your lookig for big beautifull pictures, get this book, with "Druuna X", and "Druuna 2X". The art is simply amazing, and if you ever bought other Druuna books and liked them, then this will not dissapoint you!

Exotic, erotic, Sep 28 2007

This review is from: Sweet Smell of Woman (Hardcover)
Daring to defy the Western view and often religious views that sex, the naked human body and pleasure is evil or the concept that sexual women are "dirty", Serpieri shares some insight into his view of life... sometimes in poetic ways that accompany the art... that sexuality and sensuality is not "wrong".
His art is like his life, free from guilt or repression.
Filled with various pieces of his art from different character concepts, his work has been so exact in the past that certain parts of work, such as the foot of a character, can be enlarged to see the creases of the skin from the ankle to the heel.
For adults only and the mature minded as well, this book is excellent for collection.
