Excellent conducting of Glazunov symphonies

I must thank the Rough Guide for recommending these well conducted symphonies by Glazunov. Glazunov was quite a precious composer, his first symphony premiered when he was still in school to great acclaim.
His fourth symphony was the first one composed in his own personal style using Russian themes is in three movements. It was described by Glazunov as lyrical and is quite subdued in style using hunting themes heard throughout the whole symphony. And is most beautiful in the scherzo.
His seventh symphony has become known as Glazunov's Pastorale symphony because it is in the same key and style at the opening of the symphony despite the stylistic similarities the seventh is very different from Beethoven's ; he uses his power of orchestration that brought tears to my eyes.
Please excuse any typos I have a neurologic disease.

Underestimated Glazunov

The works of Glazunov have been far to long neglected outside Russia. With this CD the listening public can at least sample his symphonic works. Jarvi conducts with vigour [needed for these symphonies are to be appealing], the sound is good, and the price is right, so for an introduction these symphonies on this CD receive a firm recommendation.
Both works are easy on the ear, have memorable tunes, and are brilliantly crafted.
Naxos offers an alternative at budget price, but in both works only Warner classics can compete for sound and brilliance, so feel safe with this CD.
