Amazing Talent!,
By
This review is from: Sympathique (Audio CD)
I first heard Pink Martini on a Starbucks compilation CD of italian love songs and loved their sound. This CD doesn't disappoint. How can ONE group have so much talent!? There's a great variety of music here. The songs are in several different languages, they seem to play every instrument, and their voices are fabulous. My favourite song is La Soledad. What an amazing composition; the singer's voice gives me goose bumps. One of the most beautiful songs I have ever listened to!I'm definately going to buy their other CDs!

If I'm in a bad mood I put Pink Martini on and I'm OK...I have both their albums and can't wait for the next one. You have to be open minded and not be limited to one style because you get a little bit of everything. Old revamped songs...new compositions...songs in foreign languages...etc...etc. But all with the Pink Martini signature...

It's not about genre,

To begin: I love this cd. It's one of my favorites. An eclectic selections of songs in different languages and with some inventive, but careful arrangements. I would not categorize this as a "jazz" cd - indeed, I think trying to categorize it will lead you to believe that it's a misfit to whatever genre you pick. It's not, as someone suggested, an "easy listening" cd (unless, of course, you are a big Metallica fan). It does require careful listening - the choice of songs and arrangements are not designed to have you bopping in the aisle at work. I enjoy the cd, and my children enjoy it (ages 8 to 23, and not really jazz or "easy listening" fans). So, if you want a fun album with a different mix songs, give it a try.
