Comparied with other composers of baroque, schutz was less appreciated for me, until that I listenned this disc. I must say that schutz was a great musician who should get more honors.
From his symphoniae sacrae, we could find its succeed from italy music and begin to develop the model of germany cantata, so that I didn't doubt why schutz had big influence on germany music. I could find its development orbit of germany music tradition from schutz, buxtehude to bach.
Of course, kirkby performed well and gave me a good experience. So i recommand it to all, it's worth ownning.

Schutz: Symphoniae Sacrae, April 17 2011

Schutz: Symphoniae Sacrae is a recording played by the Purcell Quartet on this Chandos Records LTD recording from 1994. Peter Holman has written the music notes which are both extensive and well-written. The lyrics are in English, French and German. Being a devout person I loved Schutz praises towards God. Highly recommended. 5/5.
