Be aware that this is an collection of historical recordings from 1927 - 1948. If you like listening to recordings that are over 50 years old then you may enjoy this album. Otherwise avoid it. Naxos "studio" recordings of Dvorak and Smetana would do the composers greater justice than this disc.

Interesting conducting, problematic sound Oct. 26 2004
By Robert Badger - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I enjoyed this recording very much. However, one must be warned that not all tracks on this CD are of the same quality. The Carnival Overture is taken from a recording of very poor quality. It still amazes me that it was made in 1949. Then 1929 version of the New World Symphony is far superior. It is cleanest sounding selection on this CD. The other tracks are muddy.
Magnificent recording of the Dvorak 9th June 21 2014
By Wayne A. - Published on Amazon.com

... and otherwise an excellent and satisfying summary of Erich Kleiber's genius.

If you need to be told that mono recordings made 1927-1948 are not going to be of audiophile quality, then don't even bother buying this. Go buy a Telarc disc and don't even worry about the conductor or orchestra. get something with a pretty picture on the cover.

... and please refrain from writing ignorant reviews of historic recordings.
