4.0 out of 5 stars Slapstick and music, April 7 2012

This review is from: TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection: Marx Brothers (A Day at the Races / A Night in Casablanca / Room Service / At the Circus) (DVD)
The humour is often dated and the slapstick tedious but these movies are worth watching for two reasons. Number one is Groucho for some incredibly witty lines that stand the test of time. Number two is for the musical scenes. These old family movies were all round entertainment usually a simple love story bound together with humour and a musical interlude. The musical interludes in these movies are in themselves classics and worth buying the DVD for. A complete contrast to the slapstick. The scene in A Day at the Races stands out as perhaps one of the best musical sets in any movie of any era.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's a 'title'?, Nov 29 2011

I don't have time to give a review that it at least 20 words long. What's wrong with just giving a star rating?

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Marx Brothers Fans, April 22 2010

This review is from: TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection: Marx Brothers (A Day at the Races / A Night in Casablanca / Room Service / At the Circus) (DVD)
TCM has done a wonderful job of remastering these films.
Three of the films are classic Marx Brothers and every
one will love them. However, "Room Service" is quite boring.
It does not have the usual musical numbers which are always
so much fun. It is more like a normal non Marx Brothers comedy
and not very funny either. Lucille Ball and Ann Miller make
brief appearances but even they aren't used to their full potential.
