Usage:

I needed an ADSL2+ compatible modem to use with TekSavvy DSL service. Connected my AiPort Express Wifi router to the modem. Setup was pretty easy (the PPP login information was entered in AirPort Express).

Pros:
- Easy Setup
- I'm getting proper DSL speed (15Mbps down and 1Mbps up)

Cons:
- The plastic/buttons seem slightly flimsy but for the relatively cheap price it's alright. Plus, it works silently in a corner so unlikely to see any damage.

Edit (07/24/2014): Changed my review a bit and added one star.

Note: I received version 8 of this modem, which is the most recent one.

First of all, this modem isn't "plug and play" for everyone. While it does have several VPI/VCI configurations pre-loaded (which is enough for most people), in my case it didn't have the right one for my ISP. It took me several hours to find it (and configuring anything on this modem is also super annoying). So make sure you know yours beforehand, as this is the most important information to get this to work. Without it, all you have is a plastic brick.

As for the modem itself, it works fine for me. For about two days at most, after which it will without warning drop the ADSL connection (the ADSL light goes out completely), usually right while I'm in the middle of doing something. It often fixes itself and reconnects within a minute or two, giving me my connection back, but sometimes the modem requires power-cycling for 5-10 minutes before it will work properly again.

My old SpeedStream modem, before it died, certainly didn't drop the ADSL connection every few days, so it's clearly the fault of the modem. I've tried every tweak and trick I read concerning DSL connections being dropped (force my modem into G.DMT mode, change my MTUs, alter a number of my router settings) and nothing so far has worked.

I had constant (hourly) IP changes with this modem due to the PPPoE connection being "re-dialed" often, but that was due to a faulty router and once I replaced it I've had no problems. Until the modem itself decided to drop the ADSL connection, I had the same IP for nearly two days, so compared to my original review I added one more star.

Work perfectly and reliable. I install them on commercial venues and not having to reboot the setup is critical, because i would have to send a technician.
I suggest to have a good, stable router behind this one to take care of pppoe.

By factory default, VPI/VCI is 0.35.
You can change it of course but in my case it's perfect since it's the VPI/VCI used by Bell (here in Montreal at least)
be carefull, it only works for DSL / DSL2+, NOT the "new fancy" "fibe" from bell, wich uses VDSL and only works with the !*^%#* bell modem

This is simple - cheap and works like a charm. Our old one gave up the ghost and all I had to do was exchange this for our old modem and everything was working again in seconds. We have a dual band router and it holds all the info so the modem exchange was idiot proof.

Well, I have now bought 2 of these. Reason? The first one I bought failed after 6 months. Just refused to connect to internet. ADSL light refused to go solid. So, I bought another one because it worked wonderfully. Great d/l and u/l rates. I thought it was a fluke that it died in only 6 months. Besides the price is less than a pizza and I got way more enjoyment out of this modem than I ever have out of a pizza. However, the 2nd one also died, with exactly the same problem in only 4 months. Well, I'll buy a 3rd one. Maybe 3 times the charm. Keep my fingers crossed.

Modem has been reliable for the first several weeks. Unfortunately it did not net me any additional performance on my rural-based dsl line.
