5.0 out of 5 stars Modern Talking in their prime and wisdom, Mar 21 2003
This review is from: TV Makes the Superstar (Audio CD)
Many fans thought that Modern Talking's unique style was the reason for their popularity and incredible songs and any change would be a suicide. But once again Modern Talking has proved the opposite with 'TV makes the superstar' which is completely a different style thoug the same pattern of voices were not changed. All Modern Talking fans still remember the incredible Latin-flavour song 'No face, no face no number' and most of them believed if it was released as a single, it would be a no 1 hit. It was a mistake by Dieter, but he didn't make the same mistake with 'TV makes the superstar' though it has a little bit style in Backstreet boys' and Briteny's songs. Frankly this upset many fans not because the song was bad, but because how come a great composer used similar style to those teenagers'. You'll get the same feeling when you listen to it first, and you're gonna shout 'OH my God, this is not Modern Talking'. But after two or three times of listening, you'll find how different it is from those singers' songs (in my opinion, it''s much better with full of wisdom), and you're gonna shout then, 'Oh my God, this is my Modern Talking' :-) Besides, it's the only song by Modern Taling that you can dance break dance while listening to it. :-)

Interestingly, this incredible song has two different themes; one is on the surface where everyone can get it and the other can only be understood beyong the phrases themselves. I know I sound so complicated, but give me a chance to explain. So please keep reading :-).

The clear theme of the song is about the power of TV that will help any potential person at any sport or art to achieve their glorious moments, though this will take them a hard time. It includes many pieces of advice from a legend-living composer to like Dieter to young talented people. This is what you're gonna get from the first listening or if you don't know Modern Talking enough in terms of Dieter's mentality. Now comes the pother hidden meaning of the song. I believe it's a kind diplomatic protest against the American and English TV channels which keep pushing many young singers like Britney and Eminium for example to unlimited fame at the expense of non-American and English wonderful and talented singers. Any American or English singer who reaches top 19 and his/her songs are kept playing 24 hours in their TVs will automatically get internatoinal fame.

Modern Talking is a band without limit in thoughts and styles. Once they use a style they produce songs more beautiful than the original singers. Therefore, there's no doubt that the song has reached no 2 in German charts (at the time of this review) which has made it the most successful song since they came back in 1998. Unfortunately, some fans who don't like this untypical Modern Talking's song are not happy because of that, can't you believe it? So don't listen to them till you listen to the song by yourself. Do yourself a favour and listen to it.
