The Calibre Press group and its contributors did an outstanding job in 1985. This book was necessary have for any police officer who wished to better themselves through survival techniques. This book established a norm for "how to" with applicable photographs, diagrams and true live stories.

As the book relays information form deaths and survivals of fellow law enforcement officers in educating the reader, these tactics are now outdated. Tactics that are more refined have been learned and taught. If you are buying this book for that - you are a generation or two behind.

It was a Cadillac during its time and hence the rating. It is one of those books that will sit proudly with its two earlier edition sisters much like an older encyclopaedia sometimes sits on the shelf.

If you are in uniform you need to read this book Aug. 21 2005
By Michael W. Quinn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
As the former supervisor of the Minneapolis Police Academy I made Charles Remsberg's books mandatory reading. Nobody has done a better job of explaining the hows and whys of uniform patrol.

If you work as a uniform cop, security officer, or military police officer your education is not complete until you read Charles Remsberg's books.

The Patrol Procedures Bible June 23 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is one of a series of three by CALIBRE PRESS. This series is primarily what my academy traing in patrol procedures was based on. If you don't read these three books you are cheating yourself (and your loved ones) out of some information that could save your BACON! (pun intended)

Recommended reading from skills guru Dec 13 2009

Every shift my line is out on the street as BEAT officers, talking to addicts, dealers and the recently released. This book was recommended to me by my Street Sgt. as a good source for reviewing the basics. It's a bit dated but the tactical considerations particularly in the first 3 chapter are all solid. I'll be going back to this book often just to keep things fresh.

It is truly a shame that this book is out of print. Jan. 6 1999

Every police officer in America should read every word of this outstanding manual and train and use these tactics. No other manual contains so much practical and tested tactics than the Tactical Edge. Mr. Remsburg has made an incredible contribution to police officers all over the world.
