Album Description

2011 release, the fifth album from the Post-Rock instrumental band. On Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, Explosions In The Sky take some of their greatest creative leaps yet, experimenting with layers of haunting, unplaceable sounds, euphoric vocals, classical guitar, body percussion, Japanese singing bowls and more. Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is Explosions In The Sky's most texturally diverse and emotionally dynamic album yet, and certainly their most masterfully crafted. It is perhaps the most emotionally arresting album by a band responsible for some of the most emotionally arresting music of the past decade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album Number Five, and Still Making Great Music, May 16 2011

I've been listening to Explosions for about three years now. I started off with, "All of Sudden I Miss Everyone" and fell immediately in love with the sound. I quickly bought copies of "How Strange, Innocence", "Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever", and "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place".

Explosions in the Sky has an interesting task when making new music because they don't have songwriting to focus on. They're completely dependent upon their instrumental sound, so I would think it would be a little more difficult to stay fresh and outdo what came before. Somehow they always manage to do just that, once again with "Take Care, Take Care, Take Care". To me, this is probably the most ambitious of the five albums. The album hits heavy with, "Last Known Surroundings" and moves smoothly and flawlessly until the fantastic conclusion with "Let Me Back In". Every bit of the album is satisfying and it's hard to listen to just one track without completing the journey the band has set. Even a few surprises arise on the album, such as the use of vocals on a couple tracks, this being the first album with any sort of vocals. They stay true to the instrumental sound, as no lyrics are used but the voice serves as an intregal part of the ensemble like their etherial guitars. It broadens the soundscape, giving the album much depth and feeling, especially at the beginning of "Human Qualties".

This album is haunting, eerie, and beautiful. There's enough here to satisfy any EITS fan and may even be their best album. Still, I recomend this to any person who has ears.

4.0 out of 5 stars EITS do it again!!, April 28 2011

At this point in time most people know what they're getting from an Explosions in the Sky cd. Beautiful instrumental music that veers from delicate soundscapes to all out guitar squalls. This cd is not a deviation from that formula, they have added a few 'exotic' touches here and there, but basically, if you've been a fan of EITS for the last decade, you will be completely satisfied with this addition to their catalog! Great band, great cd...

5.0 out of 5 stars Explosions in the Sky newbie ..... Super Impressed!, Oct 7 2011
By Matthew Takas - Published on Amazon.com
I have only gotten into EITS since July, but its been a magical journey so far. This was the first album that I got and once I listened all the way through, I proceeded to get the rest of them (with exception of the very first one). For me, listening to this album along with the rest, each song tells a story. The titles are appropriate in that they set the context for the music and the meaning behind it. If you can listen to this music with an open mind and using that frame of reference, it is an amazing experience to be had. They are my first experience with this genre of music and I realized that its a sound I've been searching for most of my life. The music speaks volumes on its own, no lyrics needed. Despite what some may say is doom and gloom in some of their music, there is also an infusion of hope to carry you back up after bringing you down.

I had the luck of being able to see them Sept. 30 in Asheville, NC and the show was nothing short of amazing. The band was extremely energetic and put everything they had into the performance. The crowd was completely into the show as well. The set flowed together very well and I got to hear a great mix of songs. Seeing this band live is a must if you like this and the other albums. I will definitely see them again if I have the opportunity.

If you're still not sure about it, get this album anyway. Listen to it with an open mind and maybe you'll experience something completely different. Take a chance!
