Book Description

May 9 2006 Tales of the Otori: Brilliance of the Moon (Book 2)
When Kaede arrives at Shirakawa, she learns her sisters have been taken to Lord Fujiwara’s house—and soon she too becomes a prisoner there. And neither Takeo nor Kaede know that Takeo’s old teacher, Muto Kenji, has grievances and schemes of his own. As Takeo and Kaede face disaster at the hands of their enemies, the forces of nature are also conspiring. Are Takeo’s skills of magic and his desire for revenge enough to outwit two armies? And will he and Kaede ever find a peaceful way to live their lives together?

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised Nov 30 2007
By Satia Renee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought the first book in this collection on a whim and have been delighted with the entire series. Usually, with serials, the second part is not as strong as the first and third parts because the second part is merely there to transition from the beginning to the end but in this case the author has managed to continue the dramatic tension throughout the series brilliantly. There is truly something for everyone--adventure, romance, history, fantasy--and because of the brevity the books are so easily read that you almost feel cheated because you want more. But there is more! And that's what a good serial ought to do--leave the reader wanting more!

1.0 out of 5 stars buyer beware April 29 2013

Yikes! I bought this at a book sale for my kiddoes, thinking that it might be something like a slightly more grownup Mulan. I decided that I had to give it a read first, seeing as I had never heard of this series. Whoa! So glad I did. It covers the gamut of much more adult issues- sex, homosexuality, other themes of this sort. Wow. Nowhere on it would I have even been warned of the content of this nature. Even though I didn't buy it from Amazon, I really wanted any buyers to have a heads up. I narrowly dodged giving my kids reading material of excessive graphic nature, unbeknownst to myself.
