A TALL DARK COWBOY is a heart wrenching story that will grab the reader's interest, Dec 31 2007
This review is from: A Tall, Dark, Cowboy (Paperback)
At first glance, Lacy Mason appears to be a money hungry, cowboy hating woman. In actuality, she's struggling to get through college as well as the single mother of a very sick little girl with enormous hospital bills. Working in bar full of cowboys isn't her idea of a good time but she needs the money. Besides, she enjoys running the mechanical bull and watching as each of the cowboys gets tossed. Wyatt Anderson is a full time Vice President at a major corporation. He's also a retired cowboy who enjoys entering some events in the local rodeos on the weekends. Even though Wyatt hates greedy women, something about Lacy intrigues him. Wyatt may be a retired cowboy but he possesses the determined cowboy spirit all the time and never backs down from a challenge especially when it's the form of one little stubborn woman. Lacy's attracted to Wyatt from the moment she spots him in the bar where she works. She doesn't need any more complications in her life and definitely doesn't want to get involved with a cowboy. She's even more impressed when she fails to toss him from the mechanical bull. Lacy answers one of his taunting comments with a proposition of her own. Lacy wants just one night, to be held and cared for just for a little while. Wyatt sees Lacy sneak out of the bar and assumes she is running out on him, he has no way of knowing about her daughter's fight for her life or the struggle Lacy faces each day just to keep going and not give up. When he approaches her after her phone call, he realizes that there's something that she's very upset about, there's a hidden depth to the woman and he fully intends to discover all her secrets. Lacy's determined that she can only allow herself one night of pleasure with Wyatt. Wyatt isn't going to let her escape so easily. What will he do when he learns about Jessie's illness? How long is Wyatt going to wait before telling Lacy that he isn't a full time rodeo cowboy? A TALL DARK COWBOY is a heart wrenching story that will grab the reader's interest from the very beginning. Both characters make assumptions about each other based on outward appearances that couldn't be more wrong. I am impressed by Lacy's inner strength and determination. I could feel her worry over her daughter, Jessie's, condition, as well as her guilt for having to work when she feels like she should be with her daughter. Wyatt is everything you could hope for in a man. He's unbelievably sexy, dominant, and supportive. Mackenzie McKade has once again brought two very unforgettable characters to life through her stories. This is definitely a book well worth reading as are all Ms. McKade's books I've read so far. A Tall Dark Cowboy, Mar 7 2008
By Kelly "Reviewer for The Sinfully Sensuous" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Tall, Dark, Cowboy (Paperback)
Lacy Mason leads a very hectic life. She is balancing college classes, raising a daughter with a life threatening illness, and working at the High Country Bar to support it all. She doesn't have time for men and turns them away at every opportunity until she comes face to face with sexy Wyatt Anderson. He breaks through her armor, but she can only afford one night with him. She just wants one night to be like everyone else and escape her multitude of responsibilities and burdens. Wyatt is intrigued with Lacey, and is determined to find out why she appears to be carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. He is used to getting what he wants, and decides Lacy is it. A very sensual book with two great characters in Lacy and Wyatt. There is also a good story intertwined with Jessie's illness. What a great combination.
