AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens Features

Low Dispersion (LD) Glass for Greater Lens Sharpness
Low dispersion (LD) glass elements in a lens help reduce chromatic aberration; the tendency of light of different colors to come to different points of focus at the image plane. Chromatic aberration reduces the sharpness of an image, but glass with an extremely low dispersion index, has less of a tendency to separate (defract) a ray of light into a rainbow of colors. This characteristic allows the lens designer to effectively compensate for chromatic aberration at the center of the field (on axis), a particular problem at long focal lengths (the telephoto end of the zoom range), and for lateral chromatic aberration (towards the edges of the field) that often occurs at short focal lengths (the wide-angle end of the zoom range.)"

This lens is an all together wonderful deal. It works well with my Nikon D3000. The auto focus motor is a tiny bit louder than your usual motor, but, it doesnt really make much of a difference and if the slight noise does disturb you you can always manual focus. It works great in brightly lit conditions and is comparable to the Nikon 18-55mm lens in less bright conditions e.g. inside a building. The lack of vibration reduction means you may want to use a tripod, but, i find that it's fine with a faster shutterspeed. By far not the most amazing lens, but, it's the most amazing 300mm lens that you can get for the price.

Cause the pricc was quite cheap. I gave it a try I used it in the full frame camera, It gave a decent picture. The speed of auto-focus is not up to my expectation. Hey, the len costs less than $200 . I didn't expect that much. For sure, tripod is a must when using it. Well, it worths the the price of what I paid for.

A good lens for the price. Sharp focus isn't there as you would expect in a higher priced lens but satisfactory for most of my photography. A little too much power for an all around lens, but good for those longer shots. Worth the price, to have in your arsenal.

Great guality lense at an affordable price. More than half the cost of the Nikon lense. Took it to Banff in the winter and it functioned beautifully in the cold and snow. Great service on delivery! All the reviews on the lense were right on. Happy!

For the money this is a a great lens. I am really pleased with the macro function and the learning curve is not steep. I find the manual zoom could have a bit more friction but this may simply be learning the lens.

I bought this lens for my Nikon d60, and it works perfectly. This lens is exactly what I had hoped/expected for the price. I do need to use a tripod when using the zoom, but I knew that from the outset. Macro function has been fun to play wirh as well. Shipping, as usual, was very fast. I took a chance on this lens and was far from disappointed.

pros: great value. manual focus ring is a good light touch, quiet auto-focus motor. cons: focus isn't internal or particularly fast a bit soft wide open at telephoto on D5200 in default state, still haven't properly tested it stopped down etc (beginner amateur photographer so YMMV).
