Disney presents a new twist on one of the most hilarious and hair-raising tales ever told. Your whole family will get tangled up in the fun, excitement and adventure of this magical motion picture.
When the kingdom's most wanted - and most charming - bandit Flynn Rider hides in a mysterious tower, the last thing he expects to find is Rapunzel, a spirited teen with an unlikely superpower - 70 feet of magical golden hair! Together, the unlikely duo sets off on a fantastic journey filled with surprising heroes, laughter and suspense.
Let your hair down and get ready to cheer for "Tangled." Bursting with never-before-seen bonus features, it's even more enchanting on Blu-ray Hi-Def.
Disney's 50th full-length animated feature film, Tangled is a visually appealing, music-filled adventure full of romance and humor. The movie focuses on Rapunzel, a girl with long magical hair who's lived her entire life imprisoned in a tower by her greedy mother. Naturally optimistic and acquiescent, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore, A Walk to Remember, Because I Said So, Saved!) rarely complains about her circumstances, but for her 18th birthday she longs to leave the tower to see the floating lights that appear every year on her birthday. Her mother (Donna Murphy, Spider-Man 2, The Fountain) refuses her request, but when thief Flynn Ryder (Zachary Levi, Chuck) climbs the tower to escape his pursuers, Rapunzel (once she's conked him on the head with a skillet multiple times) impulsively decides to trust the young man and convinces him to help her escape to see the floating lights. Thus begins a journey that alternates quite schizophrenically between optimistic excitement and guilty remorse that will ultimately change Rapunzel's and Flynn's lives forever. Tangled is a masterful blend of humor, adventure, passion, and drama combined with a great musical score and top-notch animation. The Real 3-D effects add to the experience but probably won't really be missed in other formats. Best of all, Disney presents a princess who matures from a meek and compliant girl into a spunky young woman who's not afraid to pursue her dreams and risk it all for love--now that's a Disney princess worth emulating. With all of the sequels that Disney has been producing in recent years, I was losing hope for the company. Tangled however has given me fresh hope! It will be a classic that we will all fondly remember many years from now much like we fondly remember Disney's originals like Snow White and Cinderella.
I love the spin they put on the Rapunzel story. Flynn Ryder's character development is also quite endearing. There are some unexpected twists, some suspense, some romance... basically everything a good Disney movie truly needs!
I highly recommend this movie, especially if you are a fan of the old Disney movies.

The Film 4.5/5
Disney has been responsible for some wonderful films since releasing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. I remember being taken to the cinema as a child to see Bambi and The Jungle Book, and anxiously awaiting holiday specials showing classic Disney clips. What's more, all of Disney's releases are suitable for family viewing.
While I appreciate all of the above, many of Disney's classic titles are formulaic. It seems like there's a princess in every story, although there are only nine official Disney princesses. The movies feature numerous songs and often start with the image of a storybook which is used to set the scene. All of those things work, but it's a little too predictable for my liking.
Tangled is different.
Instead of using a storybook for the exposition, it uses a narrator. The narrator is Flynn Rider, our hero, and he's sarcastic and genuinely funny. There are songs, but they are short, infrequent, and also funny. There's a princess, but she doesn't act like one. This is a story that doesn't take itself too seriously. It feels fresh and contemporary. Quite frankly, I was surprised and delighted with the whole thing.Read more ›
The set comes with discs for both 3D & regular blu-ray presentations, and features more extras than the DVD, including deleted sequences and a behind the scenes featurette (is nowhere near as in depth as I would have liked and is geared towards younger viewers).
If I had one quibble, it's that because this is a UK release (though thankfully region-free), the song by Grace Potter that played at the start of the end credits has been replaced by a new version of "I See the Light", sung by the winner of a Disney singing competition over there.
Aside from that though, overall I'm thrilled with this purchase - though probably moreso than my wallet is. :-)
Audio: The excellent DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track does the wonderful score justice. The music is presented perfectly. Dialogue was clear and center. All the songs, composed by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, were beautifully sung by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. The song "I See The Light" was nominated for Academy Award Best Original Song for 2010, but lost to Randy Newman's "We Belong Together" in Toy Story 3. (4.5/5)
Trivia: The bandit-hero's name, Flynn, and character pays homage to the classic actor Errol Flynn in the title role of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). One of the thugs plays the piano (invented in the 18th century) and refers to Mozart (1756-91), whereas the film is set centuries earlier, in the Middle Ages.
Continuity: When Rapunzel and Flynn flee from soldiers in the tunnel, Pascal is sitting on Rapunzel's shoulder. However, when they reach the dam outside, Pascal cannot be seen anywhere.Read more ›

I admit that Frozen has catchy songs, but Tangled has a better story, it is very funny, Rapunzel is the most likeable heroine and Flynn the cutest bad boy hero. Read morePublished 12 days ago by Justyna N.
