Superior Instruction Dec 29 2007
By southernheiter - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I have several instructional books on tapestry weaving but this book beats them all by far. It clearly describes yarns to use for warp and weft. It also gives guidance in beginning setts, Both of these points are unfortunately glossed over in other books leaving the beginner both wondering what to use and open to making costly mistakes. The practice weaving "sampler" is outlined which each step containing new techniques that allow the beginner weaver to develop the skills necesary to venture forth on their own upon completion of this book. A must have for the beginner!

Helpful and inspiring July 26 2009
By Susan L. Rubendall - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I found this book to be both helpful and inspiring. Along with clear instructions and projects for beginners, the author encourages creativity by presenting a multitude of contemporary tapestries in large, clear photographs. The many styles included will inspire weavers inclined to both traditional and modern tapestry.

For the intermediate Tapestry weaver June 6 2013
By T. Townsend - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book was suggested as a "reading" for a class I was about to take. However, not being a weaver and being completely green on the subject, I found it helpful in that I am an artist and there were plenty of beautiful and creative tapestries, however, without the class, I would not have been able to start tapestry on my own. Being a person who does many things from books, this is not for the beginner but a beautiful book to have in your library if you have already begun tapestry. The book I found useful for the beginner is Tapestry Weaving by Kristen Glasbrook which had wonderful photos of tapestries and step-by-step instruction coupled with how-to photos.

This book is a course in tapestry weaving, each chapter filled with exercises in a particular technique together with tips and discussion as well as a section on designing for tapestry. Highly recommended as an essential item for the tapestry weavers toolkit.
