Targus TSB226CA 16-Inch Terra Backpack (Black)

This Targus Terra laptop backpack measures 19" high, 15" wide and 6-1/4" thick. It is made of polyester with a reinforced bottom. There are three major compartments with numerous pockets within. The foremost compartment with a vertical zipper in the middle holds maps and other documents. In the middle compartment, there are two pockets near the top for mp3 players of various sizes and a pass-through port for a headphone cord. It is a thoughtful feature. In addition, there are four pen loops, 3 credit/business card pockets, 2 small mesh pockets and a large pocket for what-nots. In the aft compartment, there is generous room for a laptop. It is closest to the user for better protection of the computer. The laptop pocket in this compartment measures 11" wide, 14" high, and 1-1/2" thick. It fits my 10" tablet PC with plenty of room to spare. A Velcro strap at the top holds the pocket closed within the compartment. A large mesh pocket in front of the laptop pocket can be used to hold various computer accessories. On the outside of the backpack, there are two mesh water bottle holders on each side. Two straps above them are used to compress a bulky load for easy carrying. There is a padded handle at the top for carrying the backpack with one hand. The adjustable back straps are padded, with reinforced hand straps on each of them. The back of the backpack is fully padded for comfort. There are 5 metal half rings - one at the bottom of the front and two on each backstrap for attaching accessories. At the bottom, there is a zipped compartment with a detachable nylon hood in it. It is used to cover the entire front and top and the backpack in rainy days.

I can see many uses of this backpack, like riding a bike with a laptop on my back or going on a wilderness hike with a laptop to view and edit digital pictures on the spot. It rides comfortably on my back, thanks to its padded straps and fully padded back. This backpack is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, as well as practical and functional. I highly recommend it to Amazon customers.

Purchased this backpack 1.5 months ago.
I use it everyday to carry my stuff around plus I went on my round-trip to Russia with it.
So far no problems yet.

I have a back injury and needed something better than a "mall" backpack. After reviewing several, I picked this one and I am very happy with it. The soft frame makes all the difference. It was "lighter" than other backpacks I had tried or used and felt comfortable the first day out and since. The space is more than adequate and layout very functional. The placement of the load is superior to a lot of other backpacks, as it is taller and thinner, with the weight carried closed to the wearer.
