I love the deck size for tarot cards and I simply LOVE the cat images. I am not keen of the scant information of interpretations in the book. One would have to get some other book on tarot cards to gain a deeper understanding of the suits. However; making my own interpretations through the images of the cats becomes quite insightful and helpful in seeing beyond the immediate.

This is an absolutely beautiful deck, as is often the case with Lo Scarabeo cards. I already had the mini version of this deck, which is nice to tuck in a purse or to take wherever your fancy leads you. The lake is always a good spot.
The cards are so lovely, it's nice to pick them up and look at them as works of art, even when you're not using them in any divinatory capacity.

A beautiful and whimsical deck of tarot cards Feb. 8 2011

I am always on the look out for new and interesting tarot decks for my collection. I am especially interested in decks with Cats and other animals and so when I saw this one available for pre order I purchased it even though there were no images of the cards available. I am not disappointed. The deck is gorgeous! The images are whimsical and beautifully illustrated. The artist did a wonderful job of illustrating the idea behind each card while incorporating the cat theme. The deck itself is very nicely made and the high quality I have come to expect from Lo Scarabeo decks. If you love cats and/or tarot cards give this deck a try. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful deck!! March 4 2011

If you love cats & you love tarot this is the deck for you. I have been working with tarot for ten years now & have many decks, but this one quickly became one of my favorites. The artwork is VERY GOOD. The artist really knows how to capture the body language & expressions of cats & these are used to great effect to convey the meanings of the cards. I found that all I really needed to do was look at these cards & the meaning was evident. And that's good because the LWB (little white book) that comes with the deck gives only the barest hint of card meanings. It also gives two spreads for these cards. And is in several languages as Lo Scarabeo usually does. The deck would be good for beginners & experts alike, & would also be appropriate for younger folks too.

The pagan aspect is nice too & not overdone. (Really what else would cats be if not pagan?) If you know something about wicca, witchcraft, or paganism then some of the symbology will have more meaning for you. But even if you didn't know anything about it, the deck would still speak volumes just in the expressiveness of the cats themselves.

All in all it is a delightful deck! Best cat deck yet published.

(I have no idea why this page says "ring bound" as this is just a regular deck of Lo Scarabeo Tarot cards packaged in a small box with the LWB.)

Tarot of Pagan Cats March 6 2011

If your are a Cat person then these cards are the "Cats MEOW". The art work here is breath taking. I collect only cat tarot cards and this deck makes all the others seem dull. So easy to read. It truly follows the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. You see, feel and experience the emotion in each card. I just love this. I purchased 3 decks sight unseen. Gave two away to girlfriends. On opening their decks they both said that these were defiantly "My Deck" of cards. How right they were. If you love cats and are just beginning to read, this is the deck for you. Beautiful, fun and simple to read. It's a 3 paws up on this one. Meow, Meow, Meow!

Adorable and Readable--Not Just for Pagans! April 11 2011
By Janet Boyer - Published on Amazon.com

"Get comfortable and relax. This will not take very long at all, I promise. For one very simple reason. If you are reading this then you are more than likely a `cat person' or a pagan, or even both! Therefore, there is little need for explanation, for this deck is as simple as it is delightful. But make no mistake! Simple does not always mean stupid or shallow or useless. Even thought [sic] I wanted a lighthearted and delightful deck, I also insisted that it be practical and easy to use for readings." - Magdelina Messina (pseudonym for Barbara Moore)

From white Persians to black shorthairs, orange tabbies to the "hairless" Sphynx, the Tarot of Pagan Cats shows these common, yet often enigmatic, fur friends in all their glory.

Inquisitive, playful, fierce, sleepy, indifferent, affectionate--just like the range of emotion and states reflected in traditional Tarot cards, the cats in this deck also portray the joys, sorrows, triumphs and hardships that beset humans.

Placed among a variety of settings--both indoor and out--with feline coats illustrated in a variety of colors, the Pagan Cats Tarot is largely modeled after the Rider-Waite style decks, but with enough whimsy and inventive depictions to feel fresh and offer surprises.

For example, a fearless calico leaps sideways from the top of drapes, ready to pounce on the unsuspecting mouse below--and we get to see him right at the beginning of his long jump. On the kaleidoscopic Temperance card, a compassionate, collared white cat pours a goldfish out of a confining glass bowl, into an impressionistic stream reflecting the rainbow above.

In the Six of Wands, a wild-eyed, leaf-crowned cat leaps upon a rat while more than a dozen cats look on--cleverly suggesting that for every "winner" there is a "loser"...and that "winning" may be as much a rite of passage or requirement for group respect as it is the result of personal ambition.

Measuring approximately 4 ¾ x 2 ½ inches and framed with an adorable cream paw print border, the Pagan Cats Tarot follows RWS Major Arcana names. The suits are Chalices, Pentacles, Swords and Wands, with the Knaves, Knights, Queens and Kings Court designation (although the LWB calls the Knaves "Pages"). The LWB offers basic upright and reversed card interpretations, but Barbara Moore does a great job with the meanings.

Over the last month, I've used the Tarot of Pagan Cats for several important readings and each time, they've been spot on (departing from my usual use for the cards, I used this deck twice for personal prediction on a business matter and each time, the one-card reading literally "spoke" an answer that turned out to be 100% correct). I've also used it for client readings and relationship matters (one, highly charged emotionally) and, again, both times the messages were clear and correct (and the latter, extremely comforting and insightful).

So even if you don't consider yourself a "cat person" you may very well find that this deck has a lot to say in a reading or for contemplation. I love cats (well, all animals, really) and happen to own two fur-babies, so I'm more than comfortable with the Pagan Cats Tarot imagery. And I'm not a Pagan, either, so don't let the title of this deck discourage you (as far as I can see, the "pagan" part is mostly the strategic use of elemental glyphs and symbols, which most Tarot users are familiar with anyway).

The Devil card is a bit creepy with its strange hybrid cat/rabbit creatures (WHAT is that green thing in one of the cats' mouth?), and there are a few cards that show the predatory nature of felines and terrified cats, so I'm not sure if this is a 100% kid-safe deck. However, the Pagan Cats Tarot would make a wonderful deck for youth 12 and up, as well as adults that are looking to add a cute, yet dependable, RWS-style deck to their toolkit.

One of my favorite cards is the 7 of Chalices: a sleeping gray tabby dreams of seven golden goblets, filled with a white cat, a mouse, catnip, a bowl of cream, a goldfish, a ball of yarn and a comfy cushion. Too sweet! But yet, look at the truth in that card: does he follow his instinct to kill, or does he chase a beguiling cat, indulge, eat, play or just sleep? We have similar dilemmas as humans (on a grander scale, of course!).

I keep the Pagan Cats Tarot close by--I find myself reaching for this deck the most these days--and it's become a staple in my personal and client readings. Recommended!

Very Interesting Cards! April 11 2011
By Lynne Daly - Published on Amazon.com

I am a student of the Tarot, for sure more of a novice. I have purchased many Tarot and Oracle decks and some speak to me and some whisper. Some I don't connect with at all but they are so beautiful and/or intriguing that I want to keep them around, but Tarot of the Pagan Cats amazed me! When I first opened them, the meanings were very clear. It almost didn't matter what number they were in the Major or Minor Arcana, and that has never happened to me before. I have had the honor of having cats throughout my life and I love and understand animals in an interesting way, so that could be a factor, however I have other animal oriented decks and I did not get the same strong message as I got from these. I think everyone who has had a connection with cats will truly enjoy this deck, but even if you haven't had cats, they are profound messengers and I would give these cards a try.
