Get ready to get creative…

Commercial artist and YouTube sensation Phil Hansen is a big fan of making art out of everyday objects. His popular works are made from matchsticks, tire tracks, peanut butter, dollar bills, and paint on his own torso. Now he shares his wildly creative approach, and shows us all how to make art anywhere, anytime. Part handbook and part manifesto, this engaging, inspiring, and downright entertaining book takes us inside the mind of a groundbreaking artist—and encourages us to create, reimagine, and make something out of (almost) nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a Creative Book Jun 5 2012
By Dad of Divas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This was a book that takes everyday objects and turns them into works of art, and what is best is that the author makes it so easy for you to become the artist yourself. Through easy to follow diagrams and instructions you can make 3D masterpieces with Graham Crackers and peanut butter, or animal pictures with pasta. There were so many cool ideas in this book that I would have never though of if I had not found this book! To make sure that all readers understand, this is the type of book that is meant to be cut up, taken apart, etc. You will not have a complete book when you are done, unless you make copies of pages, but that is ok because it is so much fun! I did a number of these activities with my kids and all I can say is that they thought that this dad was super cool and you can be too!

If the title of this book doesn't intrigue you, I don't know what will.

Tattoo a Banana is an unique, one-of-kind book that will inspire creativity in yourself or your child like no other. Phil Hansen the artist and author of, Tattoo a Banana, steps outside of the normal perimeters of art to explore a whole new world, taking ordinary objects and making them extraordinary.

It takes 42 plus projects that can easily be done with stuff at home, or photocopied and made into a fun art class for you teachers out there. It truly is a must-have book for anyone that wants to "step out of the box" thinking of what can be considered art. Plus, it's just plain fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tattoo A Banana Jun 14 2012

Tattoo A Banana

As an art teacher I'm always looking for innovative ways to create art-sometimes from the most mundane things imaginable. If being an artist has taught me anything it's that money is always tight and the lack of supplies is the mother of invention.

When I picked up a copy of Phil Hansen's new book: Tattoo A Banana, published by Perigree, I knew I had found a kindred spirit.

Mr. Hansen has discovered the way to make art from almost anything! I was fascinated how he was able to take everyday objects like toast, marshmallows and other assorted foodstuffs and bric-a-brac and create beautiful pieces of art-at almost no cost!

Part philosophy, part instruction manual, Tattoo A Banana contains lessons not only on life but art as well. Now go out there and Tattoo A Banana, paint a peach, sculpt a squash-you get the idea!
