Speaks Authoritatively to the Tea Party Platform - A Resource, Feb 14 2012
By Mike Ruthenberg - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tea Party Patriots: The Second American Revolution (Hardcover)
For the Citizens of this great country to have the most positive impact, it will take Liberals and Conservatives alike to force change in the actions of our elected officials. Activists on both sides of the ideology can find plenty of common ground in this book. Simply stated, this book is a compelling argument for a return to self-governance. (Self-Governence: bringing decisions made by government as close to the people they affect as practical).
Regardless of your ideology, you will appreciate the well documented, unemotional, intellectually rich development of each chapter. It is a compelling and quick read. I have dog-eared many pages so I can go back and browse the many interesting links.
This book is not filled with an ego-centric belief that one person, organization or even large groups of people speak for the Tea Party Movement. Meckler and Martin are simply the ears and mouth of the many people they interact with. They have captured the thoughts of so many Americans and illustrated them eloquently in this book.
Chapter 6 is my favorite. "The Educational Tea Party". It is shocking to me that with the skyrocketing federal spending on education in our public schools, test scores have not increased in over 40 years. The graph is very compelling. The point that increased federal spending does not improve the learning taking place in our nations public schools is a great example of the underlying message of the Tea Party Movement. It speaks to the waste and inefficiency taking place at the federal level.
The book is rich with examples of why the Federal Government has reached far beyond what is practical in almost every area of our lives. The examples Meckler and Matin use are compelling and easy to remember.
This book is focused on educating those who are interested in perpetuating the success the United States of America has achieved in just two-and-a-third centuries of existence. The Second American Revolution WILL return our elected officials to the values that are responsible for that success. When the citizens hold our elected officials accountable to the Constitution, take them to task over irresponsible spending and demand free markets, the American way of life will continue to be THE example to be followed around the world.

Tea Party Review, Feb 14 2012
By Jon Marett Stallings "Pastor Jon Stallings" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tea Party Patriots: The Second American Revolution (Hardcover)
To say that the Tea Party movement has been controversial is a definite understatement. Our biased media (some left, some right) have only fueled the fire. In Tea Party Patriots: The Second American Revolution Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin have laid out a concise, well written, and well documented book on what the Tea Party stands for and where they are headed. Perhaps it will tame some of the flames.
This is not a right verses left book. Meckler and Martin take to task politicians from both sides of the aisle that violate the core values of the movement.
The Tea Party values and beliefs grew out of an open forum where people could (and still can) post and comment on the Tea Party website what they felt was the true role of government.
The first chapter briefly describes how the movement grew without any real direction or plan. Citizens concerned about the health of our country from across the nation began to communicate through the use of technology, mostly facebook and twitter. Meckler and Martin then started working to bring about some organization and coordination. The 1st Chapter then offers a brief overview of the core beliefs and values of the Tea Party.
The bulk of the reminder of the book addresses the following areas: economics, politics, education, judiciary and culture. Each chapter not only discusses the current problems and weakness in each area, but Meckler and Martin also put forth possible solutions that would bring about reform.
In the final chapter the authors realize that the state of our nation did not happen overnight, so they are proposing the creation of a 40 year plan. The plan will focus on the five areas of economics, politics, education, judiciary and culture.
Overall the book is well written and easily understandable. The facts and figures used in the illustrations are well documented and sighted.
It is hard to say if the book will win over any of the critics of the Tea Party, but I found it a great resource on the values of the movement.
I think this quote from the book regarding the fiscal state of our nation sums up the Tea Party:
"[Americans] understand that our fiscal problems run deep, that these problems are the fault of both major political parties, and that only We the People can return our country to a sustainable path." p. 202

They don't get much more genuine than Mark Meckler, Feb 15 2012
By Mary K. Parigoris "Kim Parigoris" - Published on Amazon.com

I have known Mark Meckler since the dawn of the Tea party, seen him speak numerous times, and he is one person that I trust to tell that tale of the Tea Party. Hooray for Mark for writing this book, and for staying true to the original premise of the Tea Party. No matter what road the Tea party takes, I will be following Meckler all the way.
