I have been trying to learn French at home for a while now. I have tried lots of books, CD courses, and many of the free courses you get online. Nothing worked. But then I found this course and was pleasantly surprised.

After using this course it all seemed to fall into place and I feel now that I have finally gotten a grasp of the language. I think listening with the CDS and then using the workbooks was what really helped. I am very impressed. I only wish I had found it sooner.

Definately one to check out. C'est bon!

Very ver basic Aug. 29 2009

This is a very very basic introductory French program -- great if you are a complete beginner, but far to simple for those looking for review or wanting to learn more than the very basics.

It's a British rebranding of the "Teach Yourself" series from the US, and it has been reprinted here in the US under the new British moniker.

The notebooks are a fantastic idea, with games, crosswords, and other exercises --

But the material being taught here is basic high school introductory french -- sounds, numbers, colors, days of the week, parents, greetings, street references....the types of things you learn in your first month of French classes in high school.

For most adults, a long weekend with a teach-yourself guidebook will give you more information that what you get in this package.

For absolute beginners, it's a great set! You'll learn all the basics in a short period of time!...For anyone wanting a general review, it's too simple.

This is a great set for the beginner. 10 cd's, 10 booklets and a reference book. All that is needed in one box.
