Product Description

Review

“Lieberman and Miller have written still another powerful book that takes our understanding of leadership and communities of practice to a new level. Written with grace and determination, this is a book that should be widely read.”--Thomas J. Sergiovanni, Lillian Radford Professor of Education, Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas

“Teachers, teacher educators, school reformers, and educational researchers—anyone who is committed to changing the schools to meet the needs of a changing world—should read Teacher Leadership.”--Marilyn Cochran-Smith, professor of education, Boston College and president, American Educational Research Association

Product Description

In Teacher Leadership, Lieberman and Miller discuss current changes in the teacher's role, and make sense of the research on teacher leadership. They offer case studies of innovative programs - such as the National Writing Project - that provide teachers with opportunities to lead within a professional community. In addition, they tell stories of individual teachers - from Maine to California - who are able to lead in a variety of contexts. Teacher Leadership offers a new standard of teaching and community that recognizes all teachers as leaders. It shows how to develop learning communities that include rather than exclude, create knowledge rather than merely apply it, and that offer challenge and support to both new and experienced teachers.

This book is a volume in the Jossey-Bass Leadership Library in Education - a series designed to meet the demand for new ideas and insights about leadership in schools.

This review is from: Teacher Leadership (Paperback)
This is a great book for those who are doing any work in being a leader for their school. I needed to buy this book for a Specialist Designation for Special Education. It is well written and offers support and ideas for effective leadership in your educational organization.

Leiberman and Miller don't write in an overly complicated style which makes this book accessible to many people.

I purchased this book on Kindle PC because I needed quickly for a class. I am satisfied with the quality, but it is missing page numbers which makes it almost impossible to site in the references list. I am so stressed right now!!!!
