this book has allot of information and illustrations. techniques are explained easy to understand and in detail, but most of the techniques haven't been wildly used anymore for at least 30 years. the cnc section appears to be the latest technology from about 15 years ago. while this book might be a great introduction into the the technology of machine tools i think it fails as a student book as it doesn't show the techniques and ways of the real production world of todays work environment. following the suggested applications would be far to time consuming and costly to be applied in todays fast paste work environment.

A lot of information in this book. Details on speeds and feeds, calculations for RPM, threading, micrometers, milling machines, different kinds of ovens and they way they work, etc. Learn how to do things in your machine shop that your co-workers won't teach you.

Very well written book. Easy to understand and packed with pertinent information. This is after all the textbook of choice in use in high schools. There are many used books in excellent shape and at a fraction of the new book price. This is one of the best bargains you will find.

bought it for my brother in school, have heard no complaints yet...The only thing is that he was of the impression the book should have come with a disc. Couldn't find anything about that on the site though. Oh well. |
