In the 80s, my favorites DC Comics titles were Legion of Super-Heroes and Teen Titans. Like any teen-agers, I dreamed of being part of them. I love the Legion of... DVD, so I bought this one.I was disapointed with the way they were drawn. They look like they are 12 years old (especially Robin). It is very far from they ones that were published in the comic books during the 80s. If you listen to the french version, they are called Young Titans (Jeunes titans). But so what, the serie lasted 5 seasons, meaning that there is a public for that kind of cartoons. This may slso explain why the back-story moves ever so slowly. These are made to keep kids glued to the TV on Saturday morning. Taking this into consideration, it is a really effective product. This kind of Japanimation of not my thing, but it grows on you as you watch. Extremely colorful and very imaginative in terms of the way they explain emotion with whacky 3 seconds scenes. Fast-paced as it should be, the cartoon assaults you with barrage of shape-shifting and image-crunching animation. I watched 1 episode per evening and got my money's worth after number 6. The fact that the TT have no secret identities is allowing the creators to load up the 25 minutes run-time with a lot of super-heroe. I wonder how Robin can wear his mask all day !!!!! Even if it is not what I expected, the sole fact that the serie lasted for so long earns it 4 stars. My young nephew will love them. Tere is nothing wrong with this version of the TT stories, it was simply not how they done 25 years ago. Other than that, this DVD is well worth your hard-earned cash

I've always loved cartoons, and I used to collect comics. The new teen Titans cartoons are pure fun. The mix of the japanimation style with north american styles is done superbly, and the writing is crisp (as with a number of Warner's Superhero Animations). There's a great cast of characters with solid back stories, and the show works because the show can feature one or two characters while advancing the overall story arc. The theme song bores into your brain like the old Batman live action TV show theme (there's a short feature as part of the collection on the theme music) and the character's costumes, props and the backgrounds are pretty cool. I think that this stands up very well in the pantheon of Warner Animation, and I've already bought the second season and I'm awaiting the third. This show has some pretty clever dialogue, and as with most good animation, the parent and child can watch this together and both enjoy the presentation (especially if you're a nerdy parent like me!).

After watching the first disc, I continued to watch the whole season. The storyline is good but seems to only progress every 2-3 episodes. This series has the influence of the japanese animation, but doesn't need the sweat drop, chibi, over the top exagerated expressions. The show is still very good with Classic DC comic characters battling against the forces of evil. I enjoyed the series and hope that next season they progress the story better and don't have a 2-3 episode delay between them.
