Book Description

Aug 14 2012
“I got off the phone and I tried to calm down, but my mind was racing.  Derek was the father of the baby I was carrying inside me.  He was my first love, my only true love. We hadn’t spoken in more than two months, but crazily I had still hoped we had a future together—me, him, and our baby, as one happy family.  It’s every teenage girl’s dream, isn’t it?  You meet a boy, you fall in love, and then one day you have a family and grow old together, happily ever after.”

Fans of MTV’s critically acclaimed hit series, Teen Mom, have followed Farrah Abraham’s tumultuous life as a single teen mother.  Her fiery, relentless spirit, and her unwavering commitment to getting the best out of life for herself and her daughter Sophia in spite of all the drama constantly surrounding her have made her a beloved star and media sensation.  Now, in this unflinching, at times heartbreaking, memoir, Farrah reveals the difficult truth about the life that hasn’t been seen on television.

2.0 out of 5 stars My Teenage Dream Ended Aug 30 2012

I enjoyed watching the Teen Mom Series! Not a teen myself! So i did expect it to written with little maturity, But this was worse then i ever expected!! Nothing even comes closes to explaining her attitude towards her parents. She was always my least favourite teen mom and i was hoping this book would look further into her life and why she acts the way she does! But it didn't do that. Poorly written about a first love and nothing more. very bad choice of words and now i know why she is my least favourite! She only thinks about herself and no one else. I feel sorry for her daughter and her parents! I hope they never have to read this book!! Hope the other teen moms write a book it sure can't be any worse then this one. Save your money!

3.0 out of 5 stars Intended audience? Aug 16 2012

I read this book in less than a day. As a Teen Mom viewer, I had hoped to better understand Farrah's backstory. I'm a 29 year old mother of a 4 year old daughter, so I expected the maturity level of this book to be below expectations; however, after reading the book I definitely wouldn't recommend it for teens, and adults would most likely be disgusted by the rationale of Farrah's teenage lifestyle.

Do not read any further if you want to avoid any spoilers...

As a teenager, I dabbled in alcohol and the occasional drug but it's no wonder Farrah got pregnant! Farrah was spending the night/out all night with random people, drinking heavily, having sex in her own home only to be caught by her father who knocked the crap out of the boy and then was sent to jail...not to mention that after that incident her parents actually enrolled Farrah in the same school as Derek at the suggestion of a counselor! After reading the book you will understand why Farrah's parents have had enough of her. If you want to read about how having sex for the first time felt like screwing a tree branch, how amniotic fluid smells like Derek's cum, or how peeing in some random guy's bed one night and then having your period all over the same bed the next night is so funny then read this book. Let's not forget how full of herself Farrah is...

Quite frankly, I hope Sophia never reads this book because her mother definitely made some wrong choices in her past and to me, they are still happening.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money! (And your mental health!) Aug 26 2012

This book is Farrah's attempt to keep herself in the limelight, and make some more easy money. It is poorly written, and not worth the money. If you feel the NEED to read it, the library is a good option.

The book is an abomination to literature. I may not be a great writer, but if I wrote a book, I would hire someone to be meticulous about editing it. The grammar and poor writing style is so distracting. I did not know what was worse, the grammar? Or the actual content of the book.

Farrah said she wrote the book as a type of therapy. It should have stayed a type of therapy, as there are many things that were in poor taste to share (especially as her daughter is going to read this book one day). I am surprised that some sections were permitted by the editor, but I suppose shock value and dirty details sell. If it is a book for teens, it is ill advised that some sections and descriptions were allowed. I would NEVER let my 12 year old read this crap.

Farrah's descriptions of Derek are very unflattering, and it makes me wonder why she mourns him so passionatly, and blames all the challanges she faces on his passing. I also wonder about the possibility of a lawsuit from his family. Even if what she wrote is true, or her opinion, there are a lot of things said that will impact how people judge him.

I think it is quite possible that Farrah has borderline personality disorder. I also think she may be detached from reality. I pity Sofia, as she will be raised in this environment. (I acknowledge that Farrah was raised in a dysfunctional environment as well, which has obviously impacted her greatly. Perhaps this family should not procreate. I am sorry that adoption was not chosen, as there are huge issues here.)

As for the soundtrack that comes with the ebook purchase, all I can say is it is horrible. And when the reviews started and there was little support, Farrah actually THANKED everyone and said it was another form of therapy and it may not be everyone's taste. Again, Farrah does not acknowledge reality and is unable to see any shortcomings. I wonder if she is trying to be positive? Or if she is actually delusional?

To me the book and soundtrack are yet another venture Farrah undertook to make some quick cash. Farrah tries to capitalise on every opportunity (which some may say is smart). The problem is that if you are hawking every little product and every little chance, then people begin not to trust your endorsements, because we all know you will throw anything out there.

Farrah lacks credibility because she does not stand for quality, it is more about throwing a lot of things out and hoping that something sticks.

I would not buy this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Aug 15 2012
By Heidi Hill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is what seems to be a day by day recount of her entire relationship with her dead baby daddy. She does not paint him in a good light, and she makes herself look incredibly stupid for staying with him long enough to get pregnant.

She doesn't discuss at all why she is so disrespectful to her parents (what happened between them?), her depression (she uses one small paragraph to talk about it) or her "drug usage" (again, one sentence about her using cocaine at a party).

Did it ever occur to her that her daughter is going to read this? Her poor kid is going to read terrible story after terrible story about her father. Also, did she need to include the part about what Derrick's um...man juice...SMELLS like? Disgusting, classless, trashy. How sad that her daughter has to grow up in this family.
