Product Description

J.R. Rain here. When I get email regarding my books, more often than not that mail consists of a single question: Who's Fang? Fang, for those of you who have not read my vampire mystery novel, MOON DANCE, is Samantha Moon's online confidant. Although I always suspected his role would expand in future books, little is explained about who Fang is or where he comes from. Well, considered his role expanded. At least for the time being. "Teeth" is his story. Or, rather, his backstory, in which the question is asked: What happens when a child is born with a rare throwback gene, a gene that produces two exceptionally long teeth?

Also included in the collection:
"My Father's Eyes" - Death comes to a small bar in Los Angeles...and orders a beer.
"The Fridge" - a man buying a state-of-the-art refrigerator gets much more than he bargained for.
"Die Spy" - a spy very much comes out of the cold.
"Step on a Crack" - an old curse gets a very real update.
And a bonus short story from the novel, THE BODY DEPARTED:
"Two Ghosts", in which two lost souls find a way not to be so lost....

A weird collection of short stories. Some are quirky others are just strange! J. R. Rain definitely has a strange mind.

HASH(0xa317e96c) out of 5 stars Teeth - a short story with bite! - Five Stars! May 4 2010
By Eve Paludan - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I'm a big fan of J.R. Rain's novel, Moon Dance (A Vampire for Hire novel), so I was really excited that one of the characters from that novel, Fang (who is Samantha Moon's internet confidante) had his own short story -- I'm going to call it a "side-quel." In Teeth, Fang (aka Aaron) comes alive with his own interesting backstory at the trial that stems from the death of his beloved girlfriend, Annie Hox - as you can imagine, Annie was accidentally sucked dry. By Aaron.

Born with a throwback gene that caused two of his teeth to grow really long, Aaron grew up teased and shunned because of his unusual teeth. But in Annie, goth girl and admirer of his extraordinary teeth, Aaron comes of age, finds friends in Annie's circle, and discovers that love and passion are irrevocably intertwined with his lust for blood.

This is a poignantly human and sometimes sexy story -- it rings true to the allure of modern-day vampire tales that captivate us on the page, as well as on the screen. I highly recommend this book as a companion to the novel, Moon Dance, and hope to read more of Aaron's/Fang's urban fantasy adventures. There's great writing with sparkling dialogue and a compelling draw that makes me anxious for J.R. Rain's next Vampire for Hire novel. Got blood?

Five stars!

This was far too short to satisfy us fans with the answer to "Who is Fang really"? This is a deeply disturbed character that needs more life brought to him. J.R. - dont give up on this character... we need more of Sam Moon and Fang. You have hit a winning combo.

As a fan of the Samantha Moon series, I gave this a try. JR Rain digs deep to showcase a mix of interests and talents here. Lots of passion and wit on display, so "sink your teeth" into this one.

Fun original stories...
Teeth: Fang's Story
Fang, the online `friend' of Samantha Moon has a past well worthy of the `creep' factor. Prepare to have goose bumps!
My Father's Eyes
A new twist on the elusive `Death' figure.
The Fridge
Technology turns psycho. Makes one rethink any upgrade.
Die Spy
Endings are sometimes sad in the extreme.
Step on a Crack
Every child's nightmare come true.
Two Ghosts
Tragedies blend to sweet silence.

Rain is original and worth watching and this book is a treat to read.

Keep in mind that this is a fantasy read. 4* of 5*

HASH(0xa260f18c) out of 5 stars pretty eclectic group of good short stories Feb. 15 2012
By Matthew Schiariti - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I mainly got this for the story Teeth because as a fan of the Samantha Moon series I wanted to get a little bit of back info on Fang. Of course his back story is fleshed out in Moon Child but this goes into his actual sentencing trial.

The other stories were a treat though and I'm glad I got the whole book.

Teeth was very good but the other two highlights I found were 'The Fridge' and 'Two Ghosts'

The Fridge in short is about a possessed state of the art refrigerator. Yes, you read that correctly. It's comical and ultimately quite creepy as well.

Two Ghosts was actually a pretty touching story as well about two lost souls finding one another. Uplifting isn't usually a word that one would use to describe a story about a lost soul from the recently departed but Rain makes it work here.

The other stories were good as well but I found these three to be the stand outs.
