Product Description

In their final year of high school, fate deals friends Aaron Fenn and Dean Higham two very different hands. Years later an adult Dean, now a successful Toronto condo salesman, wonders how to remake the past after a chance encounter with Aaron’s sister. Unflinching and mordantly funny, this novel about blind loyalty, first girlfriends, bowling alleys, big hair bands, petty crime and betrayal is an evocative, unforgettable kind of love story.

About the Author

Andrew Daley is the editor of Taddle Creek magazine in Toronto. His work has appeared in several magazines, including Kiss Machine. This is his first novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, engrossing read - check it out!, July 17 2007
By
This review is from: Tell Your Sister (Paperback)
I couldn't put it down! If you have any memory of the 80's - from small town to big city - you will enjoy this read! Rich in details that create absolutely realistic times and places. There's an excellent story here, a tale of regret and redemption that is alternately funny and melancholy -and always entertaining. What a great read, and one that is well worth your reading time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read from a new novelist, July 17 2007
This review is from: Tell Your Sister (Paperback)
Daley does a wonderful job of invoking the times and places. From a small southern Ontario town in the 1980s to rapidly gentrifying Toronto. I was really "there". And that particular stage of life -- late teens, early twenties -- it's hard to create it in a way that's serious and respectful of how strong the feelings are, without being ponderous. And he's done it. Anyone will enjoy this book but it's an especially good read for young adults.

4.0 out of 5 stars An engaging, well-written novel, Sep 11 2007
By L. Purre "L. Purre" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tell Your Sister (Paperback)
I recently finished this book and what stays with me is the author's keen description of life growing up in that "no man's land" of not quite the city, but not quite the country either. This fictional town could be considered suburbia, but it's not -- it's history precedes that, but meanwhile it's changing with the ever-encroaching suburban sprawl. The two main characters each get caught up with this noweheresville life in different ways, but with dramatic results. The chapters bounce between past and present, but the straightforward narrative keeps the story rolling and the reader engaged.
