Ignore the hype to hate this movie, I'm a huge fan of good solid horror flicks and this is definitely one of them. I went in wanting to hate, but was blown away by top notch effects and over the top gore. There isn't a dull moment in this flick. Yeah the plot is contrived, yeah we've all seen these scenarios a hundred times before, but this movie delivers. No punches are pulled. I think its the perfect prequel to the 2003 remake.

Where to start...The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is a prequel to the horror series. Serving to explain how Thomas Hewitt grew up and turned into the bloodthirsty villain Leatherface and began murdering people!

There didn't seem to be much backstory fleshed out about Thomas Hewitt. His childhood is a brief montage during the opening credits as he ages. It doesn't provide enough details surrounding the antagonist or the Hewitt family who adopted him. All we do know is that Tommy is mute, worked at a slaughterhouse and uses a chainsaw for a deadly weapon. The movie mainly focuses on Leatherface's brutal killings.

This slasher contains extreme gory violence and sadistic torture to it like the Saw franchise, which critics have discribed as ''torture porn''. The most gruesome scene I can think of is when Thomas Hewitt/Leather peels off the face of the heroine's captive boyfriend he kills him with his chainsaw. Then wears his face like a mask! Very graphic stuff!

Actor Andrew Bryniarski did an excellent job bringing out the killer in Thomas Hewitt/Leatherface! He must have enjoyed using a real chainsaw throughout the shooting!

I really got a good laugh when Chrissie questions the Hewitts if they've ever had sex with their cousins! Charlie Hewitt's reaction was a riot! He shouted,''You blasphemous bit**!'' Excuse my French!

The special features included three short alternate endings that didn't make the cut!

There's another horror movie with a similar title except it's called ''The Jackhammer Massacre''. But it is obviously a cheap rip-off of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Instead of a chainsaw, this other cutthroat uses a jackhammer to butcher his victims with! Could have worked as a parody! I've seen a brief preview of the film on a bonus disc in the Uncut Edition Saw III DVD package. It contained a full hour of other horror trailers running together.

if you're a gore hound, you will love this movie.i think it it is much
gorier than any previous entry in the franchise.in fact,i think this
movie makes any of the Friday the 13th movies look like an episode of
Mr.Rogers Neighbourhood.this one just about crosses my gore
threshold.having said that,i don't feel this movie was as thrilling as
the previous ones.i didn't really feel any adrenaline rush.in fact,i
thought some parts were slow.i did, however like how they showed the
genesis of both Leatherface and the rest of the family.they didn't
spend a lot of time on this aspect, but i think they pretty much covered
everything they needed.i also really liked the music.i thought it set a
great tone for the movie.whether it's a better movie than The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre remake of 2001 is a matter of personal taste.my vote
is a 3/5

I'm the sort of person who loves watching violent slasher films, but by the time the credits were finished rolling up, I was still staring at the screen with my mouth open. This film is so much more brutal and disgusting than the 1st one, and I loved it. The story answered so many questions from the last film, and every couple of minutes I found myself wincing at the extreme violence on the screen. This movie is not for the weak at heart or the squeamish. There was no sex or drugs portraying post-Scream stereotypes, so it actually seems to matter when the people on screen are killed off or tortured. This movie is disgusting... in a good way.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- The Beginning is a prequel to the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre and tells the story of how Leatherface and his family started. The movie doesn't deliver. I was looking forward to this film and was disappointed with the film. The film just didn't meet expectations and isn't really scary. The advertising line "The only thing more scary about this film is how it began" or something like that. The acting was terrible. This is one of the worst horror films of 2006. GORY SCENES, EXTREME VIOLENCE, GRAPHIC HORROR VIOLENCE, BRUTAL VIOLENCE, DISTURBING CONTENT. MAY OFFEND SOME VIEWERS.
