gorier than ever, April 11 2008
This review is from: Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (DVD)
if you're a gore hound, you will love this movie.i think it it is much
gorier than any previous entry in the franchise.in fact,i think this
movie makes any of the Friday the 13th movies look like an episode of
Mr.Rogers Neighbourhood.this one just about crosses my gore
threshold.having said that,i don't feel this movie was as thrilling as
the previous ones.i didn't really feel any adrenaline rush.in fact,i
thought some parts were slow.i did, however like how they showed the
genesis of both Leatherface and the rest of the family.they didn't
spend a lot of time on this aspect, but i think they pretty much covered
everything they needed.i also really liked the music.i thought it set a
great tone for the movie.whether it's a better movie than The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre remake of 2001 is a matter of personal taste.my vote
is a 3/5

AMAZINGLY AWESOME, April 4 2007
Ignore the hype to hate this movie, I'm a huge fan of good solid horror flicks and this is definitely one of them. I went in wanting to hate, but was blown away by top notch effects and over the top gore. There isn't a dull moment in this flick. Yeah the plot is contrived, yeah we've all seen these scenarios a hundred times before, but this movie delivers. No punches are pulled. I think its the perfect prequel to the 2003 remake.

Extreme shock factor, Nov 29 2009
This review is from: Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (DVD)
I'm the sort of person who loves watching violent slasher films, but by the time the credits were finished rolling up, I was still staring at the screen with my mouth open. This film is so much more brutal and disgusting than the 1st one, and I loved it. The story answered so many questions from the last film, and every couple of minutes I found myself wincing at the extreme violence on the screen. This movie is not for the weak at heart or the squeamish. There was no sex or drugs portraying post-Scream stereotypes, so it actually seems to matter when the people on screen are killed off or tortured. This movie is disgusting... in a good way.
