Know the Bible that Fits Your Beliefs, May 21 2004
This review is from: Text Bible-NIV (Mass Market Paperback)
Most denominations have a translation of the bible that works best for their faith. It is important to note that different translations take on different meanings to the people who read them. Ever wonder how there can be so much variation in one religion? Translation is a big factor. Here is a list of translations along with the denomination that commonly uses it Catholics-- NAS, Jerusalem Liberal Christians (Episcopal, Presbyterians, Congregationalist, ELCA Lutheran) -- NRSV, CEV, Good News (TEV) Conservative Christians (Baptist, Evangelical, Mormon, Wisconsin and Missouri Lutheran) -- King James, NIV

Fairly decent collection of short stories..., Nov 26 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Text Bible-NIV (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a fairly decent collection of short stories, but I had a problem finding any of them believable. Yes, I know they are all fiction but the authors should had made an attempt to make the stories believable. Parents should note that this collection includes stories of violent murder, rape, pillaging, incest, stealing, ect. It also glamorizes the institution of slavery and is very sexist against women. For these reasons, this collection should only be read by mature readers.
