Wonderful book! June 17 2014

This is the first book by Betty Davenport on rigid heddle weaving, and I found it more inspirational that the newer version for this reason: it isn't printed in color, but is in sepia-tone! Does that seem strange? I also own the more recent, updated version of this book, and I found that the choices of color used in the samples made it hard for me to picture how it would look in the colors I had chosen. In fact, the colors in the updated version were so sweet and candy-like that they turned me off the patterns.
The older version allows me to imagine my own colors, yet shows off the patterns very well.
Maybe that's just me, but this book works much better for my designing process.
Another good thing about the older book is that it shows some nice items completed in the patterns as suggestions about how the resulting fabric might be used.
