This is Declan on the cusp of his voice change, but his soaring vocals are still boyishly clear and wonderful. Declan has impeccable vocal control, displays maturity beyond his years, and his enunciation is perfect. This CD is a pleasure to listen to. The overly-produced orchestration, however, often threatens to drown out his voice, but Declan's powerful vocals thankfully manage to save the songs. I recommend this CD for all Declan fans and for those who are just discovering him. Thanks, Declan!

I searched forEVER for this CD & ended up paying 3x as much importing it! Thank you Amazon for finally making it available to us here in the states, now when will we be able to buy his newest CD "You and Me"?We stumbled onto his music while searching youtube for Billy Gilman's music, & were absolutely blown away by Declan's voice! Some people have criticized him for singing songs that are too old for him to have adequate life experience to perform adequately, to them I say, "Get a life people!" He is just singing songs he has heard & likes, AS DO WE ALL! The point is that he sounds as good if not BETTER than the original artists did & he has not yet even begun to tap into the full potential of what he has to offer! Mark my words, this kid is going to be HUGE! You will be hearing his praises sung across the USA as they are now in Germany, (This album has already gone gold there, & they don't even speak English as their primary language!) Also as a parting note, I wanted to ad, from what I have seen & heard of him from interviews, TV appearances etc, this is one young man with both feet firmly on the ground! He is set apart from your average teen star, in as much as he is sincerely humble & not egotistical in any way! It's so refreshing, which adds to his appeal! His music crosses ALL age barriers, although young girls will be enamored by his good looks (can't really blame them, he is a handsome lad!) Did I say that his manager gave him a guitar 2 years ago & now he is writing his own songs?? There is one of them on the newest CD, & even though he is now 16, he can still hit high note out of the stratosphere, listen to "Nothing Else Matters" on "You and Me" & see for yourself! NOW it's available thru the American Amazon!!! When I first heard about this album, I discovered it would be available thru Amazon.de, the German equivalent of this site. I ordered it on the day it was released in Germany, but it did not get here until near the end of February. So much for improved international shipping.Why I seem to like younger singers is something that I have never figured out. I found out about Declan quite by accident, shortly after his first album was released, when I was using KaZaA, (which is so inundated with spyware now, don't use it!)and looking for Billy Gilman songs which weren't on One Voice, and it gave me one of his songs by accident, and I LOVED IT! I soon found his first album for sale on eBay, though I had a little trouble with the inter-country currency transaction (it came from UK), which demonstrates why this planet should have a single currency. I've been enjoying his first album, as well as his Tell Me Why single, which contains a version of Auld Lang Syne, which cannot be found on his first album, ever since then. Then a few months back, I found out about this album! It has been three years since then 9-year-old Declan Galbraith released his debut album (rather long slump there.) but the wait has not been in vain! His voice has matured somewhat, giving indications he is entering adolescence, ie: the Bane of a great young voice. Look at what happened to Billy Gilman! But his selection of songs is a wonderfully eclectic collection, including two favorites of mine; "Starry Starry Night", which I first heard performed by Josh Groban, and "Bright Eyes", originally presented to me by the beautifully voiced Joseph McManners. Hearing these songs made me fall in love all over again! :) Other songs on this great album include "Angel", "Love of My Life", "Tears in Heaven", and several other great hits, which will provide you with much enjoyment. You can check the German Amazon for audio samples, if you want to hear them. Still, I hope Declan doesn't take too long for his next album! The same goes for my other top favorite boy singer from the UK, Joseph McManners! What do you have when you take the Moody Blues, The Animals, Simon & Garfunkel and The Kelly Family, mix in a little Toni Braxton, Queen and Air Supply, then sprinkle with some Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton?Declan Galbraith's long awaited second album "Thank You" , which was released in December in Germany and has finally arrived in the US. Declan (pronounced DECK-LYN) is one of the most talented young singers today. He is the UK's biggest kept secret, performing mainly in Germany where he has a acquired huge fan base, and elsewhere in the UK and Europe. This 15 year old tenor has a captivating voice, and his renditions of "Nights in White Satin" and "House of the Rising Sun" make the purchase price of this cd a sound investment. I would really like to hear some original recordings from this up and coming star, maybe something a little more brash that would allow his voice to showcase it's strength as his managers tend to lean more towards ballads. |
