Thank me for firing you!, Mar 30 2010
By Steve Weinhouse "a/k/aOchs" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Thank You for Firing Me!: How to Catch the Next Wave of Success After You Lose Your Job (Paperback)
Unlike what I assume is the target market for this book, I have not been fired.... lately. In fact, my wife and I have already lived much of the advice included in the book and opened our own business. However, over the course of the thirteen years we have been in operation, we have been on the other side of the desk during the firing ritual and while it doesn't necessarily `hurt us more than it hurts you,' it can be extremely upsetting to let a person go. So, I thought handing the outgoing employee a copy of a book like this one would help set a course for them and help me feel less guilty.
"Thank You for Firing me" totally over-delivered on its premise. While I didn't expect it to be a novelty book per se, I certainly never dreamed that it would hold so many useful facts, specific directions and well-researched resources. Page after page the book provides clear, non-judgmental advice. What makes it additionally useful is the concise nature of its coverage. The categories and chapters come in quick, informative bites allowing for easy digestion.
Not only will I be including a copy with every pink slip I hand out, I will be buying a few copies to send to people I have already had to let go.

Loving your Job, Mar 31 2010
By Milo R. Martinez - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Thank You for Firing Me!: How to Catch the Next Wave of Success After You Lose Your Job (Paperback)
I bought this book after quitting a job I used to love and that turned to hate. It took a lot of soul searching to say goodbye to this company that lost it's vision. It was more numbers and not the people. I was a little concerned about my future and where I would go. Where's the map that I need to guide me to where I want to go? Anyone? Well looks like I found this map,and it's all in this book "Thank You for Firing Me".
The first chapter alone told me everything would be fine and they knew how I was feeling. The first chapter! "Amazing!" I thought. Where was this book four years ago? I didn't want to get into a "rebound" job and not be happy. This book said it was okay, so I took some time before hitting the pavement and to use as an excuse with my other half to say "See?, it says right here..." and all was good. I wanted to take time and really think about what I really wanted to do in my life. I have been out of work for almost two months now and feel great about my decision. Loving your job, really loving what you want to do. There would be so many more happy people out there if they had the job they loved.
"Resouces" you say? Well there all in here too. Everything you need, wheather it be unemployment, schools, job websites, do I need to say anymore? I do. The book is also very funny, which is great when you don't have a job and need a laugh when there's no one around to laugh with you. Thank you Kitty and Candice for all the advice and help and coffee spills from the laughing. The wave has been caught.
