I expected a simple summer read when I got this book and what I received was so much more. I seriously had to put it down a few times and reevaluate my life's dreams and goals haha! No joke - not only is it smart, cool, funny and unbelievable insightful (especially considering it was written by a guy), it really makes you think. It's definitely a book for a girl (or guy of course) who likes their chick-lit but with a little more meat on the bones.

Didn't want the story to end!!!

I have a 2 hour bus/train ride into the city everyday, so I am always looking for good books to read, and I love books that are about realistic women like Zoe! The character was so lifelike and real, and I found myself relating to her more and more with every turn of the page. At times I also found myself laughing out loud which got me some well deserved stares from the other bus passengers!
When a life changing event makes Zoe re-evaluate her own "mundane" existance, she does something that most people wouldn't do....she actually makes changes! Of course, she hits several bumps in the road while trying to find her way to a more fulfilling life, but she ultimately exceeds in doing what makes her the most happy in her life. I not only found myself routing for her, but also found myself re-evaluating my own life and how I can make changes to be happier. The author has succeeded in writing a book that makes you not only love the characters, but relate to them as well. It was also a book that I was sad to see end....maybe there will be a sequel....? :)

Just to start off, I'm an avid reader. I read on minimum 2-4 books a week. I read all types of fiction, mostly romantic comedy, murder mysteries, etc... I enjoy reading these types of books because their easy reads. Easy reads to me allows me to escape the stresses, pressures, deadlines in my real life, basically escape reality and allow your mind to open up and enjoy what you are reading. To put a smile on your face and to laugh.
So with that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was not only easy to read, I was instantly taken into the life of Zoe Tisdale. Most people can take one or two of the characters in this book and relate to them or to parts of their lives. I felt that each character had their own unique personality that collectively together told an exciting story (with of course some trials & tribulations along way.) I loved Zoe's determination and learned a lot from this character that I hope I can bring into my life.
When I finished the book, I was very pleased with the entire book and one of my first thoughts was, ok, we need a second book. I want to know what else happens to Zoe and her friends in their later life.
As for the Author, I think he did a terrific job at developing the story, taking you through with amazing descriptions, his choice of words and would highly recommend this book to anyone!
I truly look forward to reading more books from the author, Erik Atwell!
