Our son got this book from some of our UK friends when he was about 2 months old. He's 6 months old now and this is his favorite! He squeals and gets very excited when we pull it out to read it each day. We recently got the "That's Not My Dinosaur" title for him as well...he doesn't like it as much yet, but he is used to us reading "lion" to him. High praises to Fiona Watt and Rachel Wells for creating such a great book! We will definitely get this book for any friends who have babies on the way!

I purchased this and two other "That's Not My..." board books in Australia recently for my 1 year old. These books were well worth the price as they quickly became his favorite night time reading. He can easily turn the pages and touch and feel the lion's ears, tail or teeth. He especially enjoys scratching the lions paws. The "That's not my lion ..." line is just the level of repetition that he requires. I would definitely recommend these books and plan to purchase the rest of the series.

We got "That's not my lion" as a gift for our six-month old, and he absolutely loves it. From the first time we read it, he figured out how to feel all of the pages and smiles and laughs each time he looks at it! He even picks this book out of the pile of other books. It has nice thick 'baby-proof' pages that he can chew on and can learn to turn. I would recommend this book to anyone!

My one-year-old's favorite! Oct. 18 2001
By Heather - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This board book is cute, durable and has lots of nifty textures for babies to feel. My daughter can't be trusted alone with Pat the Bunny because she still loves the sound of ripping paper -- :-) -- but she knows how to turn the hefty pages and feel the generously-sized textures in this book all by herself. Plus, the words are cute, the cartoons are well-drawn, and it's one of those books you find yourself joking with your spouse about later. ("That's not my laundry!") I plan on buying the rest of the series.

Great board book April 7 2003
By Lindsey Noble - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This has been one of my 14-month-old's favorites since he got it for his birthday. The pages are hefty and easy to turn, very durable, and the bright colors and range of textures is great- he especially likes the rough trailer and the scratchy seat. He brings it to me to read to him over and over, and flips back and forth through the pages himself. It is holding up well, both physically and in keeping him interested.

perfect for young babies April 9 2009
By A Helfer & O Britz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book has been a hit from the start with my 6 months old baby -maybe a little too much: at the very first reading, she got so excited at the last page that she managed to pull the mane of the lion right off the book! So parents, if your baby has good "grabbing" skills, beware! Generally though, this board book is sturdy, colorful, great to learn about textures, and has thick pages that are easy to turn with baby hands. We go back to this book often. My now 9 months old is still too young to pay attention to the little mouse on each page, but I expect it will be a nice addition later to have her find it.

I gave it only 4 stars due to the page that was destroyed so easily, and also there is one page that I don't like that much ("shiny teeth" -unappealing drawing, and shiny is not easy considering the book is glossy). I also bought "That's not my monkey" and I like it more (so does my baby).
Overall, I highly recommend books in this series.

What a great set of books March 5 2005
By Daniel Thomas Colpi - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
We got my daughter one of these books (the Lion one), and she loved it so much that I went back to the book store and got the two others in the series they had (doll and dinosaur). Months later these are still her favorite books (she is now 10 months old). I am buying the rest of the set now. These books will be what I get for baby gifts from now on.
