Stress-free!,

This review is from: The 90-Minute Baby Sleep Program: Follow Your Child's Natural Sleep Rhythms for Better Nights and Naps (Spiral-bound)
I wish I had this book with my first child!! The advice in here that your baby follows 90-minute sleep cycles really fit my second baby. I even noticed it in the hospital after she was born (which surprised me)! The results of reading this book made things so stress-free. I just knew that after she woke, no matter how long or short her naps were (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 3 hours), she would want to sleep an increment of 90-minutes after she woke. All I had to do was watch her and put her down once she started showing signs of sleepiness (never by the clock). She would then sleep as long as her body needed and then wake up happy.I love that this book also shows that every baby is different and that there are no set routines; you just need to let them figure out their own natural rhythms. My baby girl is now 6-months-old, and she has thrived on the theories of this book. She is usually happy, well-rested, and calm. And so is her Mom! She's been sleeping through the night, except for a dream feed at 10:00, for a few months now. She goes to sleep calmly and quietly, because her body is telling her it's time. She's also quite flexible, so that on days when things aren't quite so routine, she doesn't have a meltdown because she's off her 'schedule'. The only thing I found might be missing from this book is the progression to a 2-hour sleep window. I found that between 3 months and 5 or 6 months she wanted to be awake for 2 hours, instead of the 90 minutes. Now, at 6-months as the books suggests it might happen, she seems to be progressing to a longer increment of 90 minutes; 3 hours of awake time. I have read other great sleep books as well, such as "Good Night, Sleep Tight" by Kim West, and I did combine some of her views with the ones of this book to make one overall philosophy that I was comfortable with for my family. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful sleeper! Thank you for writing this! It has opened my eyes!!!

This book was very helpful. It helped me understand my 8 month old's son napping habits and he now sleeps much better through the night.

This review is from: The 90-Minute Baby Sleep Program: Follow Your Child's Natural Sleep Rhythms for Better Nights and Naps (Spiral-bound)
I bought this book when I had trouble getting my newborn to sleep for long periods. I was exhausted since he was an unpredictable sleeper and would be awake a lot at night. I started following the steps in this book as I read. I didn't even make it to reading the end of the book before I started noticing a change in my son's sleep patterns. Within the first couple of days I started to notice his sleep cues (certain cry, and rubbing eyes) as if he was telling me when he was tired, and miraculously, it seemed to be every 90 minutes, just as the book described. Within a couple weeks he was sleeping 8-11 hours straight through the night before he turned 3 months old and he has been ever since. People ask me how he sleeps and are surprised when I tell them we have no trouble with him through the night. Now it's second nature to keep track of every 90 minutes because it really does work. This book saved us much stress and grief over getting him to sleep and sleeping soundly ourselves. I highly, highly, highly recommend this for any new parent, or parent that can't figure out how to help their child sleep better.
