Book Description

April 26 2010 The Women's Murder Club
During an intimate dinner party, a cat burglar breaks into the home of A-list actor Marcus Dowling. When his wife walks in on the thief, the situation quickly teeters out of control, leaving an empty safe and a lifeless body.

The same night, a woman and her infant child are ruthlessly gunned down in an abandoned garage. The killer hasn't left a shred of evidence, except for a foreboding and cryptic message: WCF, the letters written in blood-red letters.

With two elusive criminals on the loose, Detective Lindsay Boxer calls on the Women's Murder Club to help her stop them before they continue their spree. But before they can break either case, the Lipstick Killer changes his act and demands a ransom--not for a single victim, but for all of San Francisco. Lindsay puts her own life on the line--but will it be enough to save the city from this deranged killer?

Review

"Those who haven't read any of the novels in the Women's Murder Club series are cheating themselves." (BookReporter.com )

"I can't believe how good Patterson is, whether he's doing a Washington police yarn or traveling a different road with a female narrator. He is always on the mark. I have never begun a Patterson book and been able to put it down." (USA Today Larry King )

"Patterson and Paetro are at their best here, weaving a number of plots together to create a novel that dips and flows across genre lines.... A series that shows no signs of fatigue or flagging." (BookReporter.com )

5.0 out of 5 stars Dynamic Duo in Top Form! Best of WMC books yet! July 2 2010
Format:Hardcover
From the cover of The 9th Judgment (The Women's Murder Club): The Women's Murder Club hunts a killer with a motto: Women and children first! If that doesn't grab you, all you have to do is read the first chapter to become thoroughly hooked on this heavy-hitting action-thriller.

Chapter one opens with the wife of popular movie star Marcus Dowling being murdered in what appears to be a cat burglary. The finger points to Hello Kitty, a burglar who has been robbing other wealthy people under similar circumstances.

Chapter two starts with a ruthless killer following a young mother and her infant son to a parking garage and shooting them in cold blood. The finger points nowhere in this case because the only clue is a cryptic message scrawled across a windshield in blood red lipstick.

Our main protagonist, Detective Lindsay Boxer of SFPD, is assigned to manage both the "Hello Kitty" and the "Lipstick Killer" cases. She wants to personally handle the child-killer case because she hates child-killers with a passion. She knows the media will make more of the Dowling case because of their prestige, so fears the department will put more manpower on the latter... And sure enough, Lieutenant Jacobi pulls her from the one she wants while giving her and her partner Rich Conklin the Dowling case.

The Lipstick Killer strikes again, resulting in San Francisco residents becoming increasingly incensed and frightened...resulting in the complexities of both cases pulling Lindsay back in.

Even though Lindsay's Women's Murder Club friends, Claire, Cindy and Yuki lend their own brand of charm and personality to The 9th Judgment (The Women's Murder Club) as in others, Lindsay is front and center in this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Lost for Words June 13 2010
Format:Hardcover
The book starts out with three seemingly unrelated crimes. We get to see Detective Lindsay Boxer, as well as the rest of the Women's Murder Club, interact and help solve these crimes. This book really goes to show you how small the world really is. All of the key players are present and accounted for; however I found that this installment seemed to be lacking in the "Women's Murder Club" details, and seemed to focus more on following Lindsay around as she tries to solve these crimes with her partner, Rich Conklin.
The plot was fast paced and engaging. The chapters were short and to the point. They jumped from one case to the next and back again rapidly, however you are kept up to speed and can follow along easily. I enjoyed the scenes where we saw more interaction between the 4 women.
I am finding that I enjoy the Women's Murder Club series more so than the others that Patterson has written. I really like the personalities of the 4 women, and think they all play off of one another quite well. However, courtesy of the TV show, the only thing that I am having an issue with now is picturing Lindsay with blonde hair.
All in all, this is definitely one of the better books in the series, and it is well worth the read. The only disclaimer I'll mention is some might find the murders particularly gruesome as they are aimed at, as the tagline says, "women and children first".

5.0 out of 5 stars Boxer is on top of her game Feb. 13 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Hello Kitty cat burglar has just scored a huge haul in the home of a big movie star and his wife and narrowly escape discovery. Later she is shattered to learn the wife has been murdered. Meanwhile a sociopathic killer has just shot a mother and her young child in a parking garage leaving a cryptic message on the winshield.

It's a race to stop the maniac before little lives are lost and the SFPD is overworked and understaffed. The hello kitty burglar has Boxer on speed dial claiming she has the stolen goods and didn't kill anyone as the media is suggesting.

With two faced paced plots Patterson has woven a story that will thrill the reader as I was. Boxer and the squad are on the job and excitement reigns supreme. Definitely a five star read!

4.0 out of 5 stars The 9th Judgement
A very good addition to the Women's Murder Club series. Patterson is always a nice fast read when one doesn't want to spend 3 or 4 days on a mystery novel
