4.0 out of 5 stars A solid sophomore season, Jan 11 2012

This review is from: The Adventures of Sinbad: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
The 2nd season of any show is usually disappoiting or far superior than the 1st. This one is an exception.... it is a bit of both.

The story-telling goes further than the previous year. Sinbad and crew has a purpose in life. There are a lot of duet episode where Snvad and one cew member will carry the story. This is quite refreshing for fans of individual characthers. THe mian actor was trained pretty well during the off season and it shows. THe ensemble is more credible. Each episode will get you sitting still for 55 minutes. Fight scenes are more numerous than in the 1st season. They are a lot more violent too, but it kind of serve a purpose. As with all Arabian nights film/TV, there are deliciously beautiful women in every episodese.

On the other hand..

Meave dissapears in the first episode. The whole Dermott mystery vanishes with her and the bird is the treated as only bird (and not someone turned into one magically). Her replacement is too much of a look-a-like. She is the same, but not the same. Writeers should have penned someoine totally different. Effects are better but still are suffering from the TV budget.

Every S and S fans should owb the 2 seasons.... A shame that business get in the way of the 3rd season.

I remember watching this series on Saturday afternoons along with Hercules the Legendary Journeys and Xena Warrior Princess. The series was great, it matches the same pace as other related series. It's a shame it only lasted 2 seasons, because I strongly believe this series had potential. Overall, excellent series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Season Two is out!, Feb 23 2011

Finally Season two of The Adventures of Sinbad has been released on DVD. This season is just as good as the first season. Same cheesy special effects but you can over look that if you are a fan of the show. Back ground on some of the characters is given and Sinbad is off on new adventures.
