Before I start writing about The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, I gotta admit that I love adventure movies and historic movies. I saw the series years years back. I was teen and it was just incredibly stunning.
The countries that you have heard about from world history books or world`s mystery books show up with exciting adventures and a piece of world histoies just melted in each episode so smoothly.

Besides,I don`t know how they did it but the picture quality has been done nicely. Furthermore, I quite enjoyed special features of each disc.
It`s not only interesting but also educational.

The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones seems a bit expensive but if you like adventure, history or world`s mystery, I gotta tell ya whatever it costs it`s worthy.

Great picture quality, probably better than when it was originaly broadcast in the early 80's. Wonderful portrayal of significant historical people and events - a super way to get introduced to 20th century history! Unfortunately I have two complaints.

First, when the series was originally broadcast each episode was introduced, sometimes had inserted narratives, and had an epilogue all performed by a very old Indiana played by George Hall. It was very charming and often provided a context for the stories that made them more meaningful or filled in the blanks. What a shame they aren't included. I hope I can find the missing scenes somewhere else so I can attempt to recreate the package myself.

Second, they were originally broadcast in a sequence that made sense to the old Indiana doing the story telling, not chronologically as the discs are organized. By jumping around in time with 10 year old Indy and then late teen Indy, the viewer didn't end up feeling in the early episodes so much like this was a kid's show - appropriately, the young Indy episodes are more childlike, but by putting them all together it's not as compelling to the viewer to watch all the episodes as I originally found when you didn't know what age of Indy you would get next.

Still, what a great series to have available after all these years. The bonus items sound interesting but I haven't viewed any of them yet. I recommend this series to anyone. And when another version is brought out with the missing old Indy parts and in the right order I'll buy that one, too!

I recall watching this when it was originally aired, but don't remember seeing all of the episodes. Now that I'm older and my 2 sons love the Indiana Jones movies, I picked up the 3 volumes of Young Indiana Jones for them to watch. My wife and I really enjoyed them, much more than my sons. It is quite educational and depicts the era quite effectively. The historic characters he meets in each episode are interesting, albeit not always as you would expect them to behave.

I expected the series to revolve around him becoming an archaeologist, but it wasn't that at all. It was more of his life growing up and meeting people/legends who defined our history. A lot of the series then became about WWI and his role, which was not expected. A couple of episodes were almost ridiculous and pointless to his life and the series, but overall it was produced very well. The clothing, vehicles, weapons, ships all look authentic for the time period. The first season was a little confusing at times when the actors changed for spots during some episodes (Indy was 6 yrs old in the beginning of an episode, and then was played by a 10-yr old boy later in the same episode). It improved though, especially when Sean Patrick Flannery starred.

It's a very interesting series and definitely worth the purchase if you're interested in the Indiana Jones character, or want something worth watching on TV. It's a shame the show was canceled, especially since George Lucas had drafted up enough scripts for 70+ episodes to further detail his entire life.

For anyone who loves history and can appreciate a good "yarn" this is for you! If you have a child who is at all curious and not stuck in a corner with a video games babysitting them, this is for both of you. Curl up on a cold wintry night and slide disc one into the player and you will be caught up in the adventure. Do not miss the corresponding discs that show the news reels and actual historical elements of what you have just seen. We know there is much directorial licence in the Indy portion however that is true for every "non-fiction" movie you have seen "based upon true events". This series puts you in the moment and that is a hard thing to do for any film-maker.

One of the best weekends I ever spent with my son was when it downpoured all weekend but the owner of the cottage had a huge library of movies based on historical events, Lawrence of Arabia, Patton, Dr Zhivago etc. Watching this is like that experience all over....

This is a Christmas present for our 6 year old Grandson. I am sure that he will enjoy it. We have the Indiana Jones movies and one of the Young Indiana Jones movies. He wanted to know if we could get some more of the young series.
Thanks for your request for info.
