Product Description

From Amazon

If you've ever wondered what crashed into the desert near Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947, this book will give you some startling answers. While the first version was published in hardcover in 1997, Corso provides new evidence for the presence of alien intruders in this pocket paperback edition. Whether or not you believe his contention, the sheer weight of governmental sources and documentation presented by the former Army intelligence officer is not easily dismissed. Once you understand the historical context (in the midst of the Cold War soon after World War II, with Orson Welles having recently inspired panic in citizens with his fictional War of the Worlds radio broadcast), the military deciding to cover up a real-life alien ship becomes more credible. Corso also gives a convincing explanation of why reports were so multi-various and conflicting. Even if you believe the book is utter fiction, it's still a compelling read. --Randall Cohan

From Library Journal

As the 50th anniversary approaches of the crash of a so-called extraterrestrial craft near Roswell, New Mexico, the UFO conspiracy theory is getting more attention. These latest books approach Roswell from different perspectives but identical agendas. Hesemann and Mantle are young UFO researchers who have visited Roswell and spent several years collecting documents and eyewitness testimony from people reputedly involved in either the crash recovery or its cover-up. (Most of the eyewitnesses turn out not to be.) The authors trade off chapters, with Hesemann using his anthropologist's training not only to tie the Roswell crash to Native American legends but to claim that Egyptian hieroglyphics and the Greek alphabet are directly related to the characters said to have adorned the crashed spacecraft's exterior. Corso, a career military intelligence officer, claims to have managed myriad research projects throughout the 1950s connected to recovery of the Roswell craft. Like Hesemann and Mantle, he asserts that the Cold War was a cover to develop "alien technology" that superpowers USA and USSR could not only use against the other but against the threat of extraterrestrial invasion. The most memorable passage in either book, however, is Hesemann and Mantle's suggestion that President Clinton induced the warring parties to make peace in the Bosnian war only by showing them proof of that alien menace. For public libraries convinced that pro-UFO books are needed for balance, the Hesemann and Mantle may be appropriate. The Corso is only for the few special libraries that have made documenting the unconventional a collecting priority.?Scott H. Silverman, Bryn Mawr Coll. Lib., Pa.

2.0 out of 5 stars I have a problem with this book ..., Dec 15 2003
This review is from: The Day After Roswell (Hardcover)
I am a mathematician and worked at Bell labs for many years (mid 70s to 2000). I believe the Roswell incident did take place and has been covered up by out government. I also believe that it is plausible for a government agency to have farmed out technology from the crash, to industry, to be developed into usable products. However, I do not believe Corso's account...

Corso's description of how 'alien chips' were reversed engineered into integrated ciruity is not believable. Come on folks - with the speed at which computer technology is evolving today a 'circuit' of 100 years from now will probably not be based on silicon, will more than likely utilize light to carry information instead of electricity, and will more than likely not be 'etched' as today's circuity is. Assuming the Roswell alien's are more than 100 years in advance of where we are today we are looking at what - Quantum computers based on organic molecules or maybe a technology which we can't even imagine today? Just my $.02.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books in this Genre!, Mar 5 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Day After Roswell (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read the TOP Four books in the UFO/Alien/ Government Coverup Genre; My FAVORITE is 'Alien Rapture' by Brad Steiger (Great fiction-soon to be a movie); and Alien Agenda by the best selling author of 'Crossfire' Jim Marrs (Best reference on UFOlogy); and Unconventional Flying Objects (NASA UFO Investigator for 30 years) by the scientist Dr. Paul Hill, I'd say Corso's book is a MUST READ!

Why would a respected, decorated, connected Military Officer swear in a Court of Law that the UFO Conspiracy is real and that the facts and agenda in these books ARE TRUE.

Why? If you read this excellent book and the others, you will know that they are indeed true. Two well respected American Astronauts have come forward to proclaim they had seen evidence of the Roswell UFO crash and stated they know the cover-up is real. Was his sudden demise a product of this conspiracy? You be the judge.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sounds good but watch for misinformation, Sep 13 2004

Cam S (Lloydminster, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Day After Roswell (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked this book for its overall recap of what did happen out in the desert in 47' but lets remember this IS written by a man who claims to be a part of the very cover up we need to be rid of. To me this is a good read although not the book to read if it is your first exposure to this subject. I found it to be layered with Truth and disimformation at the same time. Example, Corso always talks of the Aliens being Hostile yet there are zero examples of Hostility other than to state that the UFO's would "Buzz" our Space craft and fly over our Military bases. Well Birds fly over military bases as well yet we do not call them hostile. Shooting down a Space shuttle in my eyes would be hostile. Also Corso makes the point a few times that NASA was given complete control over the Space related issues and the Army could not get a thing done for them by NASA. Thats all fine in a perfect world but anyone in the know knows that to be a part of NASA in most cases you need a Military background with some sort of security clearance. I wonder how much was written by Corso and how much by William J. Birnes who is credited with some of the writting. I certainly couldn't discern what was his and what was Corso's. Either way you look at this book It is fascinating although not worth too much consideration seeing as it deals with such a small portion of this enormous subject. Final thought.......... If Aliens are so Hostile as Corso claims over and over then why have they watched us build a more sophistcated and strong society since 1947. All the while "Buzzing" us from inside there craft. Why not attack when we were in our Millitary Infancy. We certainly would have been an easy Target when we had only a dozen or so Nukes, Now we have enough to Kill Worlds...........Maybe to a Military man Hostility is like the new kid at school, If he's bigger than you he's hostile, at least until he comes over and says hello. If your interested read books by Jim Marrs, Timothy Good (Especially The world wide UFO coverup), and Zacharia Sitchin for a little UFO's of the past.
