Product Description

Review

“The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel reinterprets Paulo Coelho’s international best-seller with dramatic illustrations, offering readers a fresh take on the magical tale of a shepherd’s journey.” (O, the Oprah Magazine)

“The bright, vivid, sometimes even sexy (is that weird to say?) illustrations bring new life to the classic story and remind us why it’s one of the best-selling books of all time.” (marieclaire.com)

“A beautifully done story with gorgeous illustrations. What’s truly important about the story comes shining through in the dialogue as well as the images; the most important thing is to strive to accomplish your dreams. A beautiful story, well worth the time to read.” (There's a Book)

“The look is glossy and warm, with handsomely chiseled heroes and buxom women. Coelho himself was the model for the King of Salem, one of the characters who helps guide the shepherd boy.” (Los Angeles Times)

“This modern classic, a celebrity...translates perfectly to the graphic-novel genre, enlivening the story of Santiago’s search for treasure from Spain to Tangier and across the Egyptian desert.” (USA Today)

From the Back Cover

Andalusian shepherd boy Santiago travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within.

Since its first printing The Alchemist has been translated into seventy-one languages and sold forty million copies worldwide, establishing itself as a modern classic that will enchant and inspire readers for generations to come. Beautifully rendered, The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel is a must have for any collector's library.

Acclaimed illustrator Daniel Sampere brings Paulo Coelho's classic to new life in this gorgeously illustrated graphic novel adaptation.

A read for all teenagers and/or young adults, just starting out in life ... and for anyone needing a little boost. A great motivator. Like Winston Churchill said years ago "Never, never, never, never give up."

I bought this and the book "The Alchemist" for my adult son. They go well together for someone who garners more from having the visual content of the story, then reading the book afterwards.

I was interested in reading this form of the story but must say I preferred the original novel where I was allowed to interact with the characters in my own way. The pictures for me distracted from the tale.
