Book Description

Jan. 18 2007

#1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Crichton has been called "one of the great storytellers of our age,"* a master at seamlessly blending cutting-edge science and technology with spellbinding adventure. Now two of his most electrifying thrillers have been combined in one volume, to astonish and terrify a new generation of readers with brilliant and disturbing visions of the frighteningly possible.

The Andromeda Strain

A satellite sent into the outer fringes of space to "collect organisms and dust for study" falls back to earth, crash-landing in a desolate area of Arizona, twelve miles from the tiny town of Piedmont. The terror has begun . . .

The Terminal Man

The brain of a patient prone to violent, uncontrollable seizures has been implanted with experimental electrodes designed to soothe his homicidal impulses. But the doctors never dreamed he’d learn to control the monitor inside his head. Now an unstoppable maniac is loose in an unsuspecting city.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed incorrect book sent Aug. 13 2013

I suppose there is a first time for everything and with this purchase it happened to me. The sticker with the bar-code on the back indeed did say Andromeda Strain/ Terminal Man but the book was not that double book copy. I have read both books back when they first came out and enjoyed them this was for re-reading. Perhaps in the future I shall buy my second hand books elsewhere as this seller needs to have person scan both the cover and bar-code.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am not pleased easily, but, Michael Crichton... June 6 2012

Never disappoints. This publication is no exception. Always unexpected turns and subtleties which makes you turn pages. Rare, finding a writer who never lets you down. Dull world would it be if everyone found fascination as I do 100% of the time here. Just wished there were more writers than a handful as gifted as Mr. Crichton. Dan Brown is another winner.
5.0 out of 5 stars I don't love Michael Crichton...but great value 2 in one! Oct. 28 2011

I read both, liked both, and found the two-for one to be a great deal. Out of the two, I might have liked the Terminal Man slightly more, but I liked both of them fine overall. I don't know what else to say about a creative work. I don't really think its fair to rate its content as its a matter of taste (to an extent). Michael Crichton's a fine writer...so for the value I gave it a 5/5.

It was a sad day when we lost Michael Crichton. Few writers can write on as many levels as he could and did.
