When brilliant archaeologist Dilara Kenner is contacted by Sam Watson, an old family friend who says that he has crucial information about her missing father, Dilara abandons her Peruvian dig and rushes to Los Angeles to meet him. But at the airport, Sam speaks instead of Noah’s Ark—the artifact her father had long been searching for—and the possible death of billions. Before Sam can explain, he collapses. With his dying breath, he urges Dilara to find Tyler Locke—a man she’s never heard of.Two days later Dilara manages to track down former combat engineer Tyler Locke on an oil rig off Newfoundland. Her helicopter transport goes down well short of the oil rig’s landing pad and Dilara and those aboard nearly drown. No sooner is Dilara safely on the rig than she convinces Tyler the crash was no accident. Tyler agrees to help her uncover the secret behind Noah's Ark and, more important, her father's disappearance. As the picture begins to come into focus, they realize they have just seven days to find the Ark before its secret is used to wipe out civilization once again. With a chilling premise and a blistering pace, Boyd Morrison combines all the best elements of a blockbuster thriller with an intelligent and fascinating exploration of one of the Old Testament’s great mysteries.

The difference in a preposition,

This review is from: The Ark: A Novel (Paperback)
What if a preposition was miss-translated and The Ark was not "on" Mount Ararat but "in" the mountain? This is a fast paced story about how a very rich biochemical sociopath creates a modern day Noah's Ark and plans to "help" God destroy all the people except for those that have joined and been vetted by his church. The only people who know what he is planning other than his closest advisors are an engineer and several of his employees all former solders and an archeologist. The book was obviously written by an engineer, the technical expertise shows through and the inclusion of both real and imaginary equipment and inventions is meshed so tightly that it is all believable. The first half of the book was enthralling although the middle did have trouble keeping me interested. It picked up at the end again though with some surprising twists. I like books with twists. 4 1/2 stars.

This review is from: The Ark: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Boyd Morrison's "The Ark" is a well-paced and well-plotted action/adventure thriller which, in my view, ranks right up there with the best of James Rollins' works. Although a work of fiction, the author's "theory" on the nature of Noah's Ark and the biblical Flood make for an interesting read and worked well with the story. The main protagonist, Tyler Locke, having combat engineering skills, also made for a great character. Looking forward to reading other novels by this author.
