Review

'This controversial and exciting book assesses the true effectiveness of the IRA's armed struggle and reaches profoundly significant conclusions about the outcome of the IRA's entire campaign. Seduced neither by politics nor propaganda, Rogelio Alonso provides us with not only a brilliant analysis of the IRA, but sets a new benchmark for primary research on terrorism.'- Dr John Horgan, University of St Andrews, UK

'...a must read for all students and scholars of terrorism and political violence.'
Shahid Bux, Univeristy of St. Andrews, UK

One of the few indispensable books on the conflict Sept. 13 2013
By Thomas A. Marks - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Superb contribution to answering three basic questions concerning PIRA: who joined? Who stayed? Who left? The answers are placed within a strategic framework that went as far as was probably possible at the time (2003) in explaining organizational behavior as a consequence of context and agency. Evidence that has emerged since -- to include that hotly sought by the authorities as a basis for prosecution -- has only reinforced the accuracy of this work.

Nothing but lies Nov. 18 2009
By Benjamin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
If your interested in the IRA, and how and why it was formed, don't read the nonsense that is in this book. Hes charging $130 for a book of lies.
