3.0 out of 5 stars The Art of Exceptional Living Nov. 10 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was originally draw to the work of Jim Rohn by listening to an excerpt of his speech provided by the success magazine cd accompaniment (and his funny voice).

I was expecting ground breaking ideas and great insights. However much of what I received seemed to be a repeat of what I had already heard.

It is true that Jim Rohn is a good public speaker and depending on what you have read or learned previously this may or may not be a good supplement to your CD library.

If you are familiar with success/self help/business literature than there is nothing new here. His CD acts as more of a good reinforcement on topics you should already be familiar with.

Despite that, it is still worth listening to once, or perhaps as a gift to someone you know who could use his timely wisdom.

Overall pretty good...

5.0 out of 5 stars America's Business Philosopher Feb. 7 2004
Format:Audio CD
I first heard Jim Rohn speak back in 1986 and was immediately impressed. Rohn is a powerful speaker and has a powerful message.
Rohn teaches that you don't have to do exceptional things. Just do ordinary things exceptionally well.
Rohn say's "miss a meal, but don't miss a book."
"The book you miss won't help."
"Motivation alone isn't enough. Take an idiot and motivate him and you have a motivated idiot."
The Art of Exceptional Living is the can't miss guide that shows you how to mold your future by following the fundamentals of success and by using intelligent planning.
This abridged version gives a good sampling of the great philosophy and wisdom inside of this man. Rohn has made a major and lasting impact on many successful people. Most notably Tom Hopkins and Anthony Robbins.
He can help you too. If this is your first Jim Rohn program, it won't be your last. He is great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless waste of time-- for true dummies Dec 5 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Mr. Rohn tells the listener boring stories about himself. A previous reviewer is absolutely correct in stating "This guy repeats the same phrases over and over. The stuff is pretty basic. I'd save your money if i were you". He has an annoying voice and repeats utterly useless phrases such as "a little small church..A LITTLE SMALL CHURCH...a classic sermon....A CLASSIC SERMON". It takes him 15 minutes to tell us to read books and start a library? Duh!! Everthing useful could have been distilled down to one page read in two minutes.I have read and listened to hundreds of books in this genre. This is by far the worse ever produced. Invest your TIME wisely.Invest in Brian Tracy or yes, even Tony Robbins.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first tape set you should buy Dec 6 2000
Format:Audio Cassette
One day I heard someone say "You haven't even TRIED to develop yourself if you haven't heard Jim Rohn." I'd been hearing about him for years, but that day I actually drove down to the bookstore and got this tape set. I would put this in the top two or three books or tapes that have actually made a huge lasting difference in my life. This is one of the tightest, best thought out, most immediately useful tape sets I have ever heard.
I mentor exceptionally motivated and ambitious college students, and this is the first tape set I always give them.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Socrates of the Modern era July 5 2000
Format:Audio Cassette
In June 2000 in a seminar in Melbourne, Australia Tom Hopkins labelled Jim Rohn as "The Socrates of the modern era". Easy to follow insights from Jim Rohn about living an "exceptional life", but why doesn't everyone follow them? Jim will tell you "because it's easier not too." If you buy and like the contents of this audio tape, don't lend it out to other people. Buy them their own copy.
