Product Description

The foundation of our knowledge of God rests upon knowing what he is like. Without understanding God's attributes, we have a skewed perception of him--often one cast in our own image. We need more than just a theoretical knowledge of God in order to worship him as he desires. This classic work of Arthur W. Pink invites readers to discover the truth about seventeen attributes of God, including his sovereignty, immutability, patience, love, faithfulness, and much more. Pink shows readers a God who is alive, all-powerful, and active in his creation. The perfect introductory text, The Attributes of God also has enough depth and meat to satisfy the more experienced reader. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

A Transforming Knowledge of the Living God

The timeless appeal of this classic book, written by a preacher with a worldwide ministry during the first half of the twentieth century, demonstrates the deep hunger for a saving knowledge of God present in each generation. Arthur Pink sought to give readers not just a theoretical knowledge of God but pointed them toward a personal relationship of yielding to him and living according to his biblical precepts.

Pink's book explores attributes such as God's decrees, foreknowledge, sovereignty, holiness, grace, and mercy, among many others, all packaged in a style especially useful for pastors, teachers, and Bible students. Our God who is above all names cannot be found through human searching alone, Pink teaches, but can be known only as he is revealed by the Holy Spirit through his living Word.

Arthur W. Pink (1886-1952) served as a pastor for churches in Colorado, California, Kentucky, and South Carolina. His ministry brought him throughout the United States, Australia, and Great Britain. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must, May 2 2004

Previous reviewers have said it all. A must for the shelf (after digesting). Pink (1) read systematics in breadth and depth through his life, (2) read Scriptures heavily through his life. His synthesis from both life-labors are reflected in this work. Don't let the clarity and brevity fool the reader. Arthur moves from mountain to mountain top without telling the reader how the mountain tops were built---long labors of reading, meditation and prayer. Again, previous reviewers have said it well. This book is a must for the Classical, Catholic (non-Papist, non-liberal) Christian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Before you buy this book..., Mar 19 2004

This book is a great help for growing into the knowledge and understanding of our Creator's character, which is crucial for Christians to acquire; for growing spiritually (theocentrically). Easy read, also great for referencing. BUT!! Before you buy this work, instead I would recommend getting A.W. Pink's, The Nature of God (ISBN: 0802465714), which can be purchased here at Amazon.com as well. It has this entire book, plus much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get to know God deeper and more through this book., Sep 15 2003

While I was in college, AW Pink's books had tremendous influence in my spiritual walk. Among his books, I rank, "Attributes of God" one of his best. Here are the reasons:
1. Each chapter is divided into specific attribute of God (sovereignty, love, faithfulness, etc..) and defines it according to the Bible clearly and applies them to believer's life.
2. Each chapter is short but profound. Therefore it gives you time to think and reflect about God's attribute without having a pressure to finish the chapter or the book.
3. Each chapter brings out the insight of God's attribute and makes it cohesive with other attributes.
4. The book is very devotional if read it thoughtfully and humbly.

In sum, I recommed this book to those believers who seek Reformed view of God's attributes in concise and devotional form. So take your cup of coffee and read it slowly and enjoy it!
